View Full Version : Finally Got Rims!!!
HiRide 01-18-2008, 12:09 AM I never buy rims for my cars because they are super expensive and usually purely aesthetic. But I have put more time and money into my M than any other car I have owned and I found some great rims that are pretty light weight for 19's...
Enkie RPF1-19 Silver
[F] 19x8.5 - 19 lbs
[R] 19x10 - 21 lbs
I just took these tonight but I will get some decent pics up with the car cleaned up properly soon.
Also, on a side note, I just put in a Green filter. For those who remember I custom tuned my car with a clogged filter... the car is running 10 times smoother now and the pick-up is much better. I am going to dyno again soon and see what kind of power it makes with a clean filter. Right now I am at 321 RWHP and 263 RWTQ.

bemve 01-18-2008, 12:11 AM Very nice man. Those are super light.
Do you notice a difference with such lightweight wheels?

Yeah!!!
With the new filter I cant tell what has given me more acceleration, but the steering response is phenomenal. As soon as I got in, the car felt more responsive; kind of like it was being sucked into each turn. I got the same feeling with the camber plates, sway bars, etc.. but this isnt as drastic as those mods were with that feeling, still really nice though.
Still the car handles better and its definitely quicker. (i just added a little extra to my post above the pics about putting in a new filter)
Muffcaptain 01-18-2008, 01:42 AM i love your car...
more than life itself.
briansol 01-18-2008, 01:42 AM i had a set of those on my civic back in the day. I had the first set in the us in 2001 i think it was. i paid a damn pretty penny for them too... 450 each for 15x7's i think it was... but they weighed all of 9 lbs in that size :)
great wheel. never bent a single one, and those were on my track car.

haha:D Thanks man!!!
briansol - yeah its a great rim... I usually see it in that size too. You can hardly tell its the same rim in 19's. Damn.. I could go for some 9lb rims...

HiRide 01-18-2008, 02:29 AM found this about the design of these rims...
I did some more research on the TR wheels. Tire Rack says this wheel uses M.A.T. technology which I did a search on the web and this technology is used in the Enkei wheels.
Quote:
Enkei developed a new manufacturing process to produce the next aluminum wheel generation. The Most Advanced Technology (M.A.T) combines one-piece cast wheel technology with a rim forming technology called spinning process. Using this new technology of casting and rim forming by M.A.T process, is critical to improve drastically the material property and strength of the wheels. Rim-Rolled technology shapes the rim to improve material elongation withoutsacrificing the wheels hardness.
Quote:
The M.A.T process, has a drastic impact on the micro structure of aluminum and result In outstanding improvement of the mechanical property of the material. The process of spinning the rim allows Metal Flow in the rim part, which resemble the property obtained from forging process. The control of the metal flow in the rim section result in finer molecular structure without sacrificing the wheels strength and rigidity.
Quote:
Following the high performance trend every year, tires and wheels are getting larger year after year. In order to reduce weight under a vehicle's suspension, it is important to reduce the wheel weight. The M.A.T process improves the mechanical property of the rim section by shaving the rim's thickness and therefore reducing wheel weight by 10% to 15% therefore reducing the overall vehicle weight by 20 lbs.

Nice!!!! yeah they look so different in the different size but I guess with the way the spokes are shaped to give maximum brake clearance the shape will change with size.
briansol 01-18-2008, 02:48 AM They are modded after the f1 racing wheel...

onetrillionrpm 01-18-2008, 03:43 AM wow you guys are lucky to have such a great platform to work with!
lorkar 01-18-2008, 05:10 AM Sick rims, wanting for a new look myself. Good choice.:cool
OxfordM3 01-18-2008, 05:23 AM Looks sharp......completes the look. What suspension?
HiRide 01-19-2008, 12:23 AM Looks sharp......completes the look. What suspension?
hehe.. thats the thing.. right now all I have are H&R sport springs and stock shocks. but its a little lower because I also have TMS camber plates, TMS sway bars, GC rear camber arms, urethane RTABS and LCABS and I am running -3.5 degs of camber up front and -2 in the rear. Without that camber the H&R sport springs sit a little too high and the rear is actually still to high.
The rear springs in that kit are like a whole inch too high, I had to remove the spring perches and I have tons of negative camber.
I am looking into a coilover setup. I would love motons, but I will probably end up with something in the middle.. TCK, KW, etc... I went ahead and modded the rest of the suspension and just added springs to make the car look better while I search for coilovers.

I could have sworn you were on coilovers.......it really has a nice stance to it. I'm sure that its eating up the rear tires though. Let us know which coilovers you end up going with.
HiRide 01-19-2008, 03:03 AM yeah the camber is a bit much... and now with the 19's and lower profile tire I will probably reduce the front to -2.75 and the rear to -1.5.
I will definitely post up once I find a coilover to go with!
Hot328Ci 01-19-2008, 07:21 PM They look Beautiful! Congrads
HiRide 01-19-2008, 07:41 PM thanks man!
haha, I like your quote.
Shardul 01-23-2008, 10:52 PM nice selection.
Very nice rim. And also, I like your front bumper' skirt too.
Did you buy the skirt thru online or in your area? Can you introduce it if you purchased thru online?
Thank you.
m3j0n 01-24-2008, 02:11 AM nice wheels. did you get a chance to snap some better pics yet?
Brad @ evosport 01-24-2008, 08:23 AM I put the same on my VF S/C MZ3. Love them!
