Is it on your E46? I tried to install some aftermarket HID's on a friends e46 and it was not possible to just do a PnP on his car. There is something in the wiring that makes the headlights pulse or in his case strobe. We wound up having to install a seperate switch under the dash so that his headlights automatically turned on when the ignition switch was on. If your car did NOT come from the factory with HID's you can NOT just do a plug in play.

I called the dealership and they wanted to install the new wiring (too expensive), the cheap way out is to just reprogram the switch if possible, if not...there are after market lights that are plug and play i believe.

Reprogramming is very easy, takes about 10 mins, the only thing you need to do is to adjust the right angle of the lights, there is a forum that tells you how to do that.
