Mods I posted this in the Z/3 section as well - not sure where it belongs to more.

My thoughts have been straying towards a Z4 vert for quite a while now so I know it's not just a passing thing. Interested in doing a trade plus cash for a Z4, preferably a 3.0 but will consider a 2.5 with a manual transmission only. Looking for Black, Grey, Toledo Blue or Silver only (with a preference towards black). I would sell it outright for $14500.

Here's details on my 99 540i. It's been my baby and I am a very obsessive BMW owner. Had it for a year now and I'd love to keep it but can't justify having it plus the Z4 - will probably get a nice E36 or E30 as a second 4-door people/parts hauler. Washed every 1-2 weeks by hand (no drivethrough carwashes for me ever).

M5 front bumper - a little scuffed on the bottom due to a dip in my driveway
New radiator and upper/lower radiator hoses
New water pump at 60k miles (documented)
Dinan sport exhaust
Factory Hella xenons/reflectors/projectors with Depo front angel eye housings
Clear side repeater and rear lights
Sport and Premium packages (sport seats, steering wheel, suspension, DSP stereo, folding rear seats)
Just ticked over 100k miles, now at 103k and runs very very strong
6 speed manual transmission: recently replaced tranny fluid with Redline D4 ATF and shifter with an M5 unit
Eibach pro-kit springs
19" staggered M-parallel wheels (8.5" fronts/9.5" rears) with General Exclaim UHP with about 50-60% tread
have both K&N drop in filter and new factory (Mann) paper filter
Oil changed religiously at 5-6k miles with either Mobil 1 full synth or BMW factory synthetic
Parrot CK3000 bluetooth handsfree kit with stealth install in ashtray
Body is very straight with all original paint
Interior is in very good condition

would not recommend it. boxters engines have problems.. look it up on google.

from what I've read, the case porosity and liner issues were mainly afflictions of the earlier engines and have been improved upon after 2000 I believe. Issues come up around the transmission and coolant system on all models though - but hell, even if it's an entry level porsche you still got pay to play

Actually I just moved to San Francisco and need to get new CA plates when I register.

Interesting thing about the drop is that it has eibach pro-kit springs which on the 528i I had before gave a pretty substantial drop. But with this one, the rears have no gap and the fronts have about a finger width. I suspect that the front shocks were replaced at one time because even with 103k miles on it I see no signs of shock oil leakage (I think I've seen it on every E39 with over 90k miles actually - including three of my own and a 528i that a friend of mine had). I don't mind because it rides beautifully regardless (have had the suspension install doublechecked by the shop that did my alignment and they said it looks perfect) and also my driveway has a pretty big dip so it helps for clearance.

Dude, your bimmer is beautiful, think carefully if you really want to do this, I know plenty of people that simply have had a certain car for too long and get bored of it, trade it and later regret it. One of those people being me.

Thank you - I appreciate that! I just laid down a fresh coat of wax and cleaned the wheels really nice and I gotta admit the car looks even better in person.

It drives beautifully and honestly as a all-rounder car it is amazing; fast for what it is (5.5 sec 0-60 and 14 sec quarter mile are fast in my book), comfortably seats five (six in a pinch), tons of storage space, classic lines - IMO much better looking than the new E60, and the exhaust note with the dinan exhaust sounds mean at WOT.

I'll probably get another somewhere down the line but right now the idiot side of me wants a motorcycle and I know that I'll kill myself so a roadster vert is the next best thing :)
