WOW! If I was the one that stole your car I would have taken the engine instead of the tranny and stuff it in a E36.

call your local dealer. When the tranny went out on my 528i, the dealer was surprisingly helpful in helping me find a cheap used one that came with a 90day warranty. Just tell the dealer you'll pay them to put it in once you get it, and they'll help you find the part, cheap.

on the other hand, the one for sale in the post above looks pretty good too.

It might fit, but it would not handle the torque of the 540 engine. You need the correct trans. Also, if you buy another year trans, your computer may not control it.

You need the exact model trans that your car was programmed for.
