Anyone know where I can get a roll cage built/installed? The Smashback isn't the safest thing in the world (no air bags, lowered, smallest car ever, etc...), would this make it a little safer? Thanks

not sure abuot safer. You will end up hitting your head on the bars.

What is your goal behind this madness...

No idea. lol. I guess I just don't want my car to get demolished (or me) if I ever get in a wreck. I might autoX it in the future too.

I put a roll bar in my car for similar reasons, it will really only be useful in a rollover crash though.

Heres an example of a street car w/roll bar.

Thanks for posting that. I was looking for a cage similar to this: http://www.upgrademotoring.com/safety/AutopwrBolt-In.jpg

one that covers the whole interior pretty much. I know it wouldn't protect the front of the car much but if I was going to be in a wreck, I would try my best to swerve to the right or left thus potentially flipping over. It would be nice for autoX too. just in case.

Here's a great local St. Louis cage builder. I'm sure Scott could build whatever you want.

Unless you're planning on wearing a helmet all the time on the street (even though we all really should be even in a normal car, but that's beside the point), then a full cage is out of the question. The only real reason to put in a roll bar is so that you can run harnesses, otherwise it's just a waste of time/money and will get you hassled by cops.

Yeah, we definitely needed lots more beer to do it better.

if i was going to do a cage i would build it myself in are shop. But then again i dont plan on putting on in my car since i am not racing it. Now if it becomes more of a track car like i like then i will build one.

LOL. Drifters putting down money!! That's hillarious. I've offered group buys, discounts, sponsorships... you name it. Only two guys over there have stepped up to the plate.

Anyone other than Gru who says they've got money down is full of it. He paid a $250 material deposit down to hold his spot in line... just like everyone else in line does. I told him mid April, and guess what... we're on schedule for mid April. There is no wait once the car's in the shop... there IS a wait for your turn, but once it comes in, it's out on time.
If Gru wants out, all he's got to do is tell me and he gets his deposit back. The next 2 or 3 guys in line would love him for it!

What are you smokin dude? When you put a deposit down, you get a week or 2 window of when to bring the car in. No waiting to get scheduled in.

I find this very difficult to believe. I scheduled my build with Scott, put down a deposit, dropped off the car, and it was done ahead of schedule...and the scope of work was rather extensive. In addition, the final bill was less than I expected and the work was excellent.
