View Full Version : MN Car wash woes!

Several of the MN guys have heard this story from Friday. My wife and I took her Silver 1997 328i to the car wash on Snelling Ave. and County Road B in Roseville Friday afternoon. We had a coupon and we were pressed for time otherwise I would have washed it myself.

Well we pulled in and waited in line until it was time to leave the vehicle and go inside. We waited quite a while for the car to come through the wash, but that is not the problem. When the cars got to the end of the wash line an employee would hop in and pull the car forward for a toweling off. Well the guy that jumped in to Marissa's car put the car in reverse instead of first gear and proceeded to fly backwards into a Ford Expedition. At first it looked like it only came close, but when we walked outside to the car there was damage. The bumper cover needs to be buffed out and painted from all the scratches, the black strip on the bumper needs replacing, the piece that runs from the quarter panels above the bumper cover needs to be repaired, and the trunk needs to be painted. All this to the tune of just under $2K. The moral of this story is wash you own car, or at least don't go to a Mister Car Wash.

Whoa, that sucks. I've brought my BMW there twice now I believe. I'm not making a racist comment here, only an observation, but the majority of the workers there are of hispanic origin and speak little english. One of the guys didn't understand a word I said when I asked him if he could vaccume the trunk out as well.

I assume that they are paying for the damages, no? I live about about mile or so from there in Roseville. Fortunately, I do all my own washings now and wouldn't let anyone other than another enthusiast/professional touch my car anymore. Good luck with getting everything fixed...

Jason we should get together as I live about 3 miles from there. Yeah they will be paying for it.

Bob, hey good to hear from you. I need to bounce a couple of AK Audio questions by you one of these days.

That's too bad Paul...at least it wasn't the M. There's a decent wash on University between Hwy 280 and Huron. I don't recall the name, but it's near that computer store. Sheesh, my memory is going quick. Anyhow, they do a decent job there. One of the best washes I've been to in the metro.

Paul,

Check back on this forum(regional discussion) and we'll get another big Twin Cities meet organized in about 2 weeks or so once it starts getting warmer on a more consistent basis. If you didn't see the first one, I posted a few pics under thread "Twin Cities meet" in this same forum. It was a great time and had 10 BMW's show up in the Midway area off of University Ave. Random people even came by to check out of our rides all lined up in a row in the parking lot.

If you wanted to meet up before that for a beer or something, I'd be more than happy to especially once I get my next two mods installed within the next week(HID lights and Benfer intake). I live near Lexington and Country Road C. Let me know...

Sorry to hear about the 3. Yea some of those car washes are bad. ONe of my friends when were younger worked at one and some girl that worked there put a 911 turbo into a wall and had over 8k in damage. NOthing beats the personal wash.

That really sucks. I'm always reluctant to take my car to such a place, but sometimes, as you said, you're pressed for time and your car is covered in bird doodie and what not, what are you gonna do?

I remember when I still had a Supra with 11"-wide rear rims they scratched the hell out of them at that same carwash on Snelling. They said that it was not their fault and that the rims were too wide for their tracks .... so, I had to get lost.

Once again: WASH YOUR OWN CAR.
