View Full Version : Vent Time re: CCA DE's this Year

So I'm pissed off. Here was my plan, in a nutshell:

1. Go to March DE and get one more run in Advanced Group, including Friday Lapping.

2. Go to NASA event the following weekend to get my CR license.

3. Go to July DE to get more practice (see #1).

4. Make my debut in Spec E36 in September.

5. Finish last place, but have fun doing it.

...then I saw the dates for this year's CCA events at RA. :(

1. Can't go to March because my brother-in-law's getting married that weekend.

2. Can't do Comp School the following weekend because there is NO WAY The Green Bean will be 100% finished by then, thus she won't be able to pass tech.

3. Can't do July DE because Aaron (yes, Ron17 for you old schoolers) is getting married in Michigan that weekend.

4. Won't have my license in time for CCA event in September because the closest CR School CCA is putting on is in December at Roebling.

5. At least I won't finish in last place.

So, sorry for the venting, I just had to. If anyone has any suggestions that might help me get into the September race, I'm all ears. This is just very dissapointing because that has been my plan since Anna and I decided to make The Green Bean a race car and now it looks like I have to wait another year. That really isn't a bad thing I suppose as it will give me even more time for my mechanic and myself to finish the car and more experience behind the wheel at DE's, but still sucks, ya know?

1. Can't go to March because my brother-in-law's getting married that weekend. Just wait for his second wedding, no need to go to the first one. :D

2. Can't do Comp School the following weekend because there is NO WAY The Green Bean will be 100% finished by then, thus she won't be able to pass tech. FINISH THE DAMN CAR.

4. Won't have my license in time for CCA event in September because the closest CR School CCA is putting on is in December at Roebling. What is the next closest school?

5. At least I won't finish in last place. Not yet.

1. Tell you what: YOU can tell Anna that I'm not going to be at Turks and Caicos for a week with her. Thanks!

2. Working on it. Lack of funds. Buy more tires, please? :wave

3. Aaron's first wedding, so I can't miss it.

4. Mid Ohio in April. 9-hour drive FTL.

Turks and Caicos? I'm looking to go there for a dive trip.

Which island you going to be on? That's a cool little area of the Caribbean.

At least you can actually think about taking the time/money for that kind of awesomeness. Really, its a minor scheduling issue. Here's what you do:
1. Get some street walker to leave a short message on brother-in-law's fiance's phone about a week before the wedding. That should buy you at least a weekend.
2. Hire a group of garage going gnomes to slowly work on the car. Granted their hands are small and they can't work as fast, but they come in groups and you can pay them in beer (their gnomes so a can goes a long way).
3. The same street walker will gladly leave another message for your Michigan date.
4. These days, with all that computer and online business, a solid forgery is better than actually acquiring it.
5. The last place thing is up to you.

Problems solved!

G, just search around for w/e DE's you can, NASA, PCA, perhaps even another BMWCCA chapter at another track that fits your schedule. Would you be willing to do the comp school anywhere besides Road Atlanta or Roebling??

Be happy G. I'm to poor to go to a DE now that I finally have my car fixed and running better than ever.

4. Mid Ohio in April. 9-hour drive FTL.

Do it and I'll drive up and we'll caravan. Maria's family is all in Ohio and I still have a dozen friends up there. By then I'll have my temporary ride while the SE30's being worked on.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck. I totally know what it's like to plan out a season of motorsports only to have it ripped to shreds.

There is more than one way to skin a cat. if you really really want to get your license there are ways to get it with out doing the BMW school etc, etc.

Turks?

Maybe Caicos?

I honestly have no idea, but all it took was The Wife saying, "Geordie, we're going to a tropical island for a week."
