I have followed the various DIY's for replacing the rear woofers (not subs) in my 2003 530i, but I cannot figure out how to remove the rear deck (shelf). I can get the rear seat out no problem, along with the bolts that double as sunshade latches, but from there the deck still feels secured. Any help would be appreciated!

Remove the 4 push clips(I assumed you did) You need to take off the c pillars and then just pull hard out towards yourself. It should come out. I just did it to mine to ad some sub woofers to my setup.

Great, thanks for your help. Interesting that the DIY I was using mentioned pulling out the shelf prior to removing the c-pillars.

I'm thinking of doing a similar set up as to Jack but unsure how it would sound.. Can you give us some more info on your set up ???

Old school Focal Audios I had laying around in my closet. My dad had them in two boxes for his home theather years ago.

They sound great, just need a box built around them.

If they sound 'great', why do they 'need' a box? :confused

along with the bolts that double as sunshade latches

I'd like to see that trick. Those are anchor points for the tether strap on car seats.

More power handling? they probably weren't designed for a free air installation...

And, as such, probably do not sound "great". :) I might buy "good".
