Hey all,
This is not a motor swap, but I think it is the best place to get a answer for my question. I have pulled my motor and tranny from my 328IS. I am going to rebuild the motor and such. I pretty much plan on re-wiring the whole car, I want to keep it simple. Lights, Sound System and the "Basics" To make the car run. I am getting rid of the cruise control, A/C and such to "Clean" the look of the Engine Bay. So my question to you is what should I keep motor and tranny wise for the swap. I want as few wires as possible. Also, is there another ignition cylinder I can use that dont have the security coil. I want no security on this car, All that I will wire in my self, a aftermarket kit. Thanks for any help.

I have the M52 2.8l motor with a auto trans. :cool

Not worth the trouble unless its a race car (no accessories at all)
No clean aftermarket solutions available.

At the end of the day, if you try to re-wire, you may not have a car that runs at all. Why bother? Keeping all of the car systems is not a big deal. You still have to have lights, signals, horn, wipers, heat, (cooling, too) engine functions, instruments and gages, interior lights, etc, etc if you intend to run it on the street.

at the begining of the day I have a shell. At the end, same thing. no motor, no tranny, no interior. Its a work in progress
