Hey guys,

Going to be doing a S52 conversion on a customers 318ti. We have a 3.23 M Roadster differential and was wondering if that is a direct bolt on to the 318ti rear subframe and halfshafts?

Thanks in advance.

I just swapped in a Mcoupe 3.15 diff into my ti. The diff will bolt in, but you have to swap the inner cv joints that connect to the diff. I took my inner cv joints from an e30 but anything with a medium case diff should work. Also one of the diff cover bolts hits the trunk area and it needs to be massaged so that it doesn't rub. This is the link that I used.

Thank you for the response. So should I purchase inner CV joints from an E30 325i or another model?

All I know is that I used ones from an e30 325. Other medium cases joints may work but I cannot say for sure.

swap the rear control arms and brakes while your at it. and get some M3 fronts. Great stopping power on a car that light.

Your suggestions have been done already =). Customer did a complete E36 M3 front end (subframe, bilstein sport struts, H&R Sport springs, M3 front swaybar, and brakes. For the rear it's M Coupe Bilstein Sport shocks, H&R springs, Ireland Engineering Race Subframe bushings, and will be going with a Dinan rear swaybar.

The M Roadster 3.23 diff has been installed. Obviously the spare tire has to be removed to install the larger diff. Next is to install the driveshaft and finish up the auto to manual conversion.

My spare fits with the larger diff. No //M diff cover here though, maybe that's the difference.

I used the entire halfshaft from a e30. You have to shim the ABS sensor out, but everything is a direct bolt in. No need to swap CV joints around.

Same thing I did. Had to beat the floorpan in to clear the m coupe cover.
