I saw a thread or someone posted the different E36 manual transmission types, their gear ratios, and the rear end ratio. I've searched for 15 mins and can't find it. Can someone post a link or the info for me?
Thanks :)
All e36 manuals have a 1:1 5th gear.
I dunno about rear end ratios... 3.15 - 3.46 would be the ballpark depending on various stuff.

More like 293 - 391:)
i know all 328's came with a 2.93
95 M3's were all 3.15
96-99 M3's were 3.23 for manual and 3.38 for auto
and didnt some 325's come with lsd 3.91's?
And theres only 2 different 5 speeds right? with very similar ratios?

Yea the getrag and ZF had two different gear ratios.. Almost too close to tell a difference. But both fifth gears where 1:1.. Even the 6 speed euro had a 1:1 fifth as well.
The rear on the 325s manuals are 3.15 open.. The winter package would add LSD and the Autos where 3.91 open.

From thread 495824
323/328/325 auto = 3.91
325 manual = 3.15
323/328 manual = 2.93
323 and 328 were not available on a large scale with an LSD.

Diffsonline.com has a bitchin' spreadsheet with e36 ratios in the 'tech info' section of their website. You can figure RPM/MPH outcomes with various ratios.
Also, I have a new 3.45 ring and pinion if you need one!
