Like the title states, we all know the level of the jokesquad is crazy in NJ, but it seems like for the past 2-3 weeks the police have been going crazy. Now I know there has always been an excessive amount of police in the safest town in America where I live in a beach town where nothing happens, but lately I have been noticing cop cars everywhere and people being pulled over more often. I've also been seeing state troopers in my area. Last night alone 2 state troopers pulled over 3 people in less than 10 minutes at the end of my block, makes me fuckin furious. Anyone know whats up with the jokesquad lately? Is there a reason they are being bigger hairy dicks than usual?

Its the beginning of the new year. Cops everywhere need to pass out a certain # of tickets a year. So alot of them just start going nuts. End of the year too.

Ummm no, in my eye the cops around here are jokes, their main objective is not to pull people over, they are supposed to help and serve the population, not give them a ticket for a fdamn headlight being out. Here's the way I see it, When I drove to Chicago a few years ago, I saw about 10-12 cops hiding waiting to pull over people from central to north Jersey whereas I saw 2, yes 2 cops waiting to pull people over for the rest of my entire trip to Chicago. In my opinion, the cops in NJ are complete jokes unless they are serving in areas that truly need it such as Newark, Jersey City, Camden, etc, every other cop waiting to pull people over in areas where absolutely nothing happens I have zero respect for.

well since there is no gang violence in those areas, they need something to do. if you dont like it, stop speeding. speed limits are put in place to help save lives, and a cop pulling a speeder over is simply doing his job in trying to help save lives. stop bein a little bitch, police are there for a reason, and all the while your bitching and complaining, just know this.. when you wrap your car around a tree and it catches on fire, those cops will be the first on the scene to drag your unconscious ass out.

finally someone with some sense in them, not just another immature teenager bitching about getting pulled over for speeding. If you don't like cops doing traffic stops why don't you go ahead and move to jersey city, newark, or camden and see if they bother you there.

Looks like there is a great deal of law breakers in the NJ Hwy system and they must be punished. or the state needs the revenue?

Just drove back from Vegas to New York. I saw more police in I-80 (70 miles) than in any other state that I traveled through.

Maybe people in those western states drive better than us in the northeast and don't need so much police presence? They do have 75 mph speed limits. Everyone around me on the road traveled at 85-90 with no problems.

You should post this in OT and see what other people in other states say about their police force.

Exactly, I just personally think it's a disgrace seeing more cops in one stretch of highway in NJ than the rest of the country when there are bigger issues to be resolved and dealt with.

could be worse.. a few of the towns down here do not have local police, so the state troopers have to patrol them. At least the local guys are more likely to let you go if they recognise you as not being a troublemaker.. the troopers aren't

No cop ever cares about the financial stress or problems caused by yanking someone from they're daily routines, parking behind them with a small stars' worth of lights flashing, and giving tickets for things that do not affect anyone or anything around the driver. Oh yea, try being black and getting pulled out of cars and getting searched just because. And don't tell me that "oh your just overreacting" bullshit. Several weeks ago on 101.5 they were talking about this. They warned that the state said they are going to up the police presence and if you are traveling more then 5 mph faster then the posted speed limit, they will ticket you. They are doing this for at least month of February and if its successful, they will continue. Yes, its crap and its all for raising money but that's what is going on now. I've noticed on the parkway every morning all of the usual cop hiding spots are filled with police now. I have seen a minimum of 4 cars pulled over each morning from exit 117 to 91. I was also on the Turnpike and I-195 and cops were all over the place pulling cars over.

That's not the only thing either... I noticed today when I was passing by the truck inspection area on the parkway that it was littered with cops checking trucks. More then the usual. I guarantee that they were giving out tickets like crazy in there and checking each truck more thoroughly.

Welcome to NJ. Will the last one to leave, turn out the lights.:evil2

just having a college education means nothing these days. I have a lot of friends who went to decent colleges and cheated and bumbled their way through (even though with some it took 5 or 6 years). No one will ever know though all they'll see is the degree and they can become cops such a joke.

I've said it before and I'll say it again the vast majority of people who become cops have no direction in their lives and are looking for a steady job that offers excitement and good benefits. It's just a job with variety and getting away with just about anything is one of the perks. AND YES I have several friends who are cops.

if he can not do the job right impeach the governor,
the cops are just doing their jobs(taking orders), but we don't have to pay for the stupid NJ goverment mistakes and impotence to manage the state revenues(remeber Jim Florio?)

the funny thing is that Corzine is a financial major and "bussiness man" but a lot of people don't know that he just uses NJ to as a stage (step up) before he runs for President in the near future

Thats pretty bullshit to be honest. I am going through the process of becoming a cop right now and I have direction in my life. I know what I want to do and why I want to do it, and it has nothing to do with what a lot of you will think.

I dont get why you all bash the police like you do. Sure some cops can abuse their power, but they are doing their jobs. If there was nobody out there enforcing the speed limits do you think the roads would be very safe? I sure as hell know I wouldnt drive anymore... especially when you have females putting on makeup on the highway doing 90... the other guy shaving while talking on his cell phone and trying to drink his coffee at the same time (seen this happen before).

Lay off, they are doing their parts in making the streets safe to drive on. If you want to fly down the roads, do it on a track.

Actually, I feel very strongly that patroling for speeders does not have much of an impact on highway safety. What you just stated above is a perfect example -- people putting on make-up or talking on the cell phone are hazardous regardless of the speed they are travelling. Sure, excessive speed makes them more of a hazard, but they aren't paying attention to what they are doing to begin with.

I feel very strongly that the criteria for pulling people over should change. If I was a person in power, I would issue the order to lay off people that are travelling at a high rate of speed when there is not another car within 100 yards. My order would be instead to focus on the people that are tailgating, passing when there is not propoer clearance to pass, and even people crusing in the left lane without overtaking a vehicle. I feel very stronlgly that these are the things that contribute to making highways unsafe -- not someone who has navigated past a clump fo people doing those things and is now all by himself maintaining a speed so that he can remain by himself.

JTFormula
02-09-2008, 05:08 PM
Yes but that person traveling at a high rate of speed could in theory loose control whether they were not paying attention or maybe a deer is crossing the highway or whatever. They could spin out and hit another car causing damage and injury to another motorist. Speed limits are a basic law. follow them and you will not have any problems. Most of the time, the rate of traffic is 5-10 mph faster then the posted limit anyway so they are not going to pull everyone over. Just those who exceed the rate of traffic.

I'm JT and I approve this message.

I agree about safety concerns and flow rates of speed
but pulling people over for 32 in a 25 zone just to fill the goverment's vault with hard working people's cash is a major..:nono

remember gov Gorzine's accident and the seat-belt crackdown that follow the weeks after?
I certainly do

almost day after day doing roadchecks and causing major traffic delays and headaches for everyone on the road.....for what??

to justify the goverments lack of responsibility(not wearing a seatbelt) and the troopers reckless driving
