View Full Version : Local FS: Mint E30 oil cooler
kendogg 01-10-2008, 05:38 PM I've got a mint condition oil cooler for sale. Not a single leak, probably the best condition cooler I've seen not mounted on a car. $90. Pics to come tomorrow.

BimmerDawg 01-10-2008, 05:51 PM Noob stupid question: is it possible to make this fit an E36 w/M50?
kendogg 01-10-2008, 05:57 PM Noob stupid question: is it possible to make this fit an E36 w/M50?
Nope. M20 fitment only. Besides, M50s don't need oil coolers.

Do you have any other flavor besides Mint? I was hoping for a strawberry flavored one.
oh and free bump...

With enough money and hard-headedness.. you can make anything fit.

I realize it doesn't bolt right up to an M50, I was asking if it was possible to make it fit an M50. And yes, M50s run in race cars do need oil coolers, at least it can't hurt. :wave

Again, no way it could fit, completely different design. Ever changed oil in an M20 car??
Do you have an oil temp gauge?? That'll tell you if your M50 needs an oil cooler. All E30 i cars came from the factory with coolers. M50 cars didn't.
M3Alpine99 01-10-2008, 09:04 PM You probably "could" someone make some AN fitting adapters and couplers and maybe make it work in some form or another... Anything is "possible"... Mounting or placement may become an issue but it would probably not be worth it.
In most cases your m50 won't really need a cooler... But on the older BMWs the engineers put extra stuff on because it made it better and last longer. Now they don't care ;)
*cough cough*

I'm sorry I asked.

:lol gotta watch it these days..or they gonna gitcha
IMO unless you're 20lbs underweight, don't bother with an oil cooler. :dunno
Preemptive strike: I am not, and never have been 20lbs underweight for anything. :rofl

:lol :lol :lol
BimmerDawg 01-11-2008, 10:56 AM Again, sorry I asked.
I was wondering if it was possible to make it fit, which was clarified in posts #5 and #8. I wasn't asking if I should fit one. There are a few SE36 guys that are running them and a LOT of CRs in all, so that's why I asked.
But thanks for the extra info.
Back on topic, now please.
THERE IS AN OIL COOLER FOR SALE FOR AN E30, NOT AN E36.
M3Bill 01-11-2008, 11:15 AM Again, sorry I asked.

G, no problem. I wasn't trying to be rude, mean, etc. If it seemed that I was - I apologize. Last thing I wanna do is be mean to g-dawg ;)
I'm gonna go take pics in like 10 minutes. I'll edit them into this post.
BimmerDawg 01-11-2008, 11:30 AM Es all good. I just need more coffee. :wave

I'm sorry I don't have the means to give my car to Mr. H and have him do everything perfectly all at once. Unfortunately I'm piecing this thing together and am on a somewhat limited budget, Mr. Moneybag$. :stickoutt

kendogg 01-11-2008, 01:05 PM whoa. Thats cool. How come?? Is that the euro housing, or stock?? If stock, they don't have thermostats in them, do they??
e9nine 01-11-2008, 03:18 PM I think the euro housing is the stock option of choice besides the other aftermarket options none of which are cheap.
With ingenuity and re$ource$ you might be able to modify a stock housing or utilize aftermarket pieces to achieve your desired end result. I think the VPD stuff is no longer available though :(
tabasco 01-11-2008, 04:02 PM Do you have any more recent photos? How do I know that the condition of the product has not changed in 3 years 10 days????
P.S. Will this fit an s52? hehehehe
I almost pulled that one from pull a part. They wanted what, 10 bucks? You got it from the red e30 right?

Ken doesn't know how to use his camera and leaves the stupid date tags on forever. It resets everytime he changes batteries...
Just ignore the date and Ken's photography skills or lack there of.
