E34 are so underestimated, they may not have newers car's look but there is something classic and sporty at the same time that is unexplainable that cannot be compared to newer cars. Not Around here in So Cal. Only BMW guys will look at your E34 if it is Clean. However in my NSX thats different.

yeah in Broken Hill we have a population of about 21k.
maybe 10 BMWs total. 3 E34s and the rest E36/E46.

Well. I have 2 daughters in High School (16-Junior and 18-Senior) and they both would rather drive in Dad's 1995 540i than Mom's 2000 Acura 3.2TL-S. They think it looks classy. The only other car they like more is my 3.5" lifted Red 1995 Jeep YJ with the top and doors off when it it sunny. They both share a Saturn and they keep asking when they can drive my car (the answer is never) even though they can drive Mom's when they need to.

I just remembered this. The first weekend after I bought my 535 (10 years ago), my friend and I went to a club in downtown Hartford. While circling the block I found a tight parking space in front of the patio for this upscale restaurant. As I'm trying to parallel park the car, I can hear someone from the restaurant helping me. When I get out of the car, I find that its two hot girls having cocktails. I said thanks and one of them said after checking me and the car out, "anything for such a beautiful car". The fact that the BMW is timeless in its styling and remains mechanically/cosmetically/structrually sound virtually as long as it is well maintained means only the enthusiast is fully aware of a particular car's age. The enthusiast is also the only one readily aware that you can get these once 50-100K cars for 5-15k in good to great condition. Spend a bit dressing her up, and she looks like she still belongs at the prom....As Magic Johnson would say WHALAAAA!!

I had a different BMW for each year of high school, and would often drive my mom's e34 as well. This really threw some people off. Despite being a small school, people still couldn't figure out how and why I had more than one BMW, or why I could drive a different one to school everyday of the week. (I didn't go often, they were usually 3 day weeks lol).

The e34 is a lot of car for the money. 540i sports with the 6 speed are very nice cars, with all the needed luxurys and comforts of a modern car, with a very nice chassis that handles okay but is very comfortable. Even the 525i Autos are great cars, good for getting point to point, quietly, quickly and comfortably. The most important thing is that they are all more refined than the e28s that preceeded them. Sound deadening, ride quality, interior quality and design, aero, brakes, etc are all superior.


And yes, it may be a chick magnet of sorts. It looks the part, and has the classy lines of the older BMWs. My e34 was always the favorite of my girlfriend. She liked the way it drove and that it had the round lights and standard kidney shape. She had good taste in cars.

As far as women over 24, you'd likely get more looks in any two sports car than the e34 sedan.

Yep. As soon as I get the cable for my phone I'll put up a pic of a Honda civic that a worker at the 7/11 near me owns. I can attest to that. Senior year I had an E30 vert and girls were always asking for rides home with the top down. Then they couldn't figure out how to open the door and I would always laugh and they were amazed at how nice the car was and would ask if I was sure it's an 88. Uh Yea it is my car.

a 10 second (or even 8 second) 0-60 is not quick, and is not 'pulling'. you get down to about 5 seconds, and you might stand a chance against $4k vws and hondas around here.

yea but the e34 is a whole lot more car. Leather seats, smoother ride, better styles, better quality, obc, 4 doors....the list goes on. If our old luxury cars are even close to the new "sporty" cars then we have something going for us.

a 10 second (or even 8 second) 0-60 is not quick, and is not 'pulling'. you get down to about 5 seconds, and you might stand a chance against $4k vws and hondas around here.

I guess if you only race mk4 jetta with the 2.0 90 hp mill, then yeah... you might win.

Any car that is tastefully (key word) modded is a chick magnet. I haven't had any compliments in the e34 yet because it's still in the busted and getting fixed stage, but in my '03 Sebring convertible (trust me it was nice and far from stock) I got so much attention from girls it wasn't funny. Stop lights, gas stations, parking lots and just about everywhere. It got to the point I wouldn't even tell them what I drove anymore when I started talking to them.

The sad part is woman like that are not the long term dating potential. I used to like to call them the triple F girls. Find'em, F***'em and forget'em. A lot of woman are shallow and are only intrested in you for what you drive, wear or have. Just go to a car show and watch the guys getting out of M3's, 350Z's, Corvette's or other nice cars and then look at their girl. There's usually a disproportionate level of physical attractiveness (you all know what I mean).

ill honestly say i didnt buy this car to pick up chicks. I would have bought a Z3 for that i believe, but i have had a fair share of response in owning this car by the "shallow" overly gorgeous type. And well all i gotta say is if you have a chance on fuckin, let them believe whatever they want. Im not saying take advantage, but just stick it to em, so to speak.
