fkong777 01-10-2008, 02:20 PM Appears to be a M-sport if not pretty good exterior upgrade since the mirror, bumpers and t-star wheels are M-sport -ish.

Testercles 01-10-2008, 04:01 PM That looks really nice... pretty similar to yours in fact.
prash 01-10-2008, 04:14 PM 200K miles is wow. Seems in good shape for the mileage
Verbatim 01-10-2008, 04:20 PM 200K miles is wow. Seems in good shape for the mileage
200k might be nearly too much for the auto tranny, but my 540 has about 195k on it, and it still runs great (and keeps up with new mustangs on the highway... :devillook)
prash 01-10-2008, 04:40 PM this guy's probably on his 3rd tranny & 12th rad w/ that kind of mileage.
bman10 01-10-2008, 05:49 PM That is way over priced for the mileage. I have a 525i with 237 on the clock and my tranny is automatic and I have zero problems with it. shifts smooth as glass.

Wha?!?! I got mine for $4400, and I reckon it was a steal, granted the i/6 helps, but still. A 540 should be worth more than $4300 if its in good cond. regardless of mileage.
Desert Bob 01-10-2008, 06:51 PM I just bought a 1995 540i with 115K miles (only 57k on the new Alusil short blook) in absolutely mint condition with full service records from an original owner for $5,500 just down the freeway in Mission Viejo. I think that this is too much for 200K miles. Keep looking and try the Craigslist. I think you get better deals there.

ooo00o alipine white... got any pics :D
Verbatim 01-10-2008, 07:51 PM KBB private party for a 95 540 with 200k miles and an auto trans is $6,050 for "good" condition, $5,250 for "fair" condition, and $6,700 for "Excellent" condition.
lotucris 01-10-2008, 08:01 PM my 540iA has 263k on it and the transmission works... kinda. Haha. It has to be on at least its second tranny, who knows though. I've realized that the experience/quality/interior durability of these cars isn't phased much w/ high mileage as long as everything works. My seats are still the most comfortable car seats i've sat in and that goes for saying I don't get a sore back after 3+ hrs of driving.
hows that for off topic.
shrike071 01-10-2008, 08:20 PM Just as an FYI - if it is an M-Sport, it's worth 2x what they are asking.
Nosilw 01-10-2008, 08:30 PM If it is an M-Sport it is one of 35 with an automatic transmission (200 total 165 with manual six and 35 autos). Makes it pretty rare, but can't really tell from one photo - need to see the interior and such to see if it really is an M-
Sport and if so then I echo worth twice the price even with 200k.

Based on the exterior it appears to be an M-Sport.

I'm sure that's an M-Sport. It even has the mirrors.
I wonder why the seller doesn't advertise it as such. Always wondered why people don't know what they have.
shragon 01-10-2008, 08:48 PM yea looks like the seller doesn't know what it is.
m-sport looks good though.

Actually there is 65 Auto M-sport. I had one of them. Seems like a good price but I dont have the time to deal with all the little repairs and possible EDCIII strut replacement. Im only about 30 miles away from the car too. LOL.
Anyone seen the Jeff Dunham comedy central special?

pimpstaty5y 01-11-2008, 12:15 AM its a 96...just me or did they not make e34s in 96?
screwbiedoo15 01-11-2008, 12:21 AM They didn't produce them in 96, but leftover ones were sold while the e39 was in the works

There are MY 1996 E34 even cars built in 1996, but in North America the last model year was 1995, so no this one isn't a 96, it's a 95, but if it had been made for Europe it would have been a 96, difficult but that's the way it can go in different markets...

fkong777 01-11-2008, 02:14 AM My M-sport was built on 9/95 so that should of been a 96 MY car. However I believe due to part Catalog and other misc reason the was titled as a 95 car. Prob because there is maybe a few hundred car that is suppose to be a 96 my. No enough to make is own MY.
shrike071 01-11-2008, 12:01 PM seriously thinking about this car....
DuRWooD 01-11-2008, 12:19 PM Didn't the M sports come with M pars? or was that just the (uber rare) Canadian version?

Mine is 9/95 too.
It's because they would have had to gone to OBD-II in '96. Didn't make sense with the E39 coming out in April '96 to convert a few E34s to OBD-II.
The long '95 MY was very common.
Testercles 01-11-2008, 12:34 PM OBD-II??
On Board...
4500 RPM 01-11-2008, 12:44 PM OBD-II??

On Board Diagnostics, version II.
Introduced in '96 (over you guessed it, OBD-I)

that's the reason the all Ferrari F50 in North America is MY 1995 (the first cars)
This makes MY 96 LHD 540i very very rare, only 46 respective 45 BMW 540i/6 and BMW 540iA were made:D

Yes in Europe that wasn't a demand from the EU to have OBD-II, I know that Mercedes-Benz to MY 1998 of the C-class thought about letting European models get OBD II but skipped due to higher costs with little gain.
