I have a chance to buy a 2006 M Roadster for $35k to $37k. It's got only 3000 miles on it and clean title. Should I go for it?

You should ask yourself that question ... we will not be driving your car.

Not a bad price. Is it the one at Expo?
FYI, the dealer has been giving awesome prices on the new 07 M-Roadsters in stock. You might be able to get a new one for a little more.

Wow thanks. That's really helpful.

Yes! It's the white one there. Thanks for the tip on the '07's. I'll definitely look into it.

Sorry... I'll rephrase.

Great car. I have one too... I got one and love it. I'm not totally sure what you are looking for. Confirmation on price? Yeah, great price... but dealers are basically giving the cars away... something like $10k off sticker. I've put 15k miles on mine and the only problem I have right now is that the tires need to be replaced.

Thanks for the insight. I'm looking for a great weekend getaway toy. It's between the M Roadster and the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 convertible.

Now... when you phrase the question like that. I can give you a better answer. Having driven both of them, the M Roadster without a doubt a better choice. After driving the GT500, I was left with a confused look on my face not understand what all the hype was about. I even convinced a friend of mine to cancel his order because after I relayed my driving feedback, it just was not worth it to him.

The GT500 left me wanting more in every aspect of the car... yeah it has 500hp, but it really does not feel that fast, maybe at those HP levels, "feeling" is no longer applicable, but out of all the other high HP cars I've driven, it by far felt slowest. Plus, let's not forget that it doesn't have the suspension/braking IMHO to handle that kind of horsepower. If I was going to buy any Mustang, I would take my money and go and get a Steeda/Saleen car because at least I know I'll have the suspension/brakes to handle the power (even if it is less horsepower).

The M Roadster excells in all aspects of the game. It may not have the straight line speed of the Mustang, but in my opinion it does everything else better and I mean everything. I've driven both extensively.

I have an 06 M Roadster and I absolutely love it. There are days when I miss not being able to drive it. I've had it for almost a year now and I still never get bored of it. Some days I take it for a cruise on the freeways or some days I take it up to the santa cruz mountains and have a little fun.

When some of my friends sit in my car they say they hate how you can feel everything. They come from their smoother rides to my ride and they don't like it. They don't understand that the car is a roadster and it's made that way....I absolutely love the fact that you can feel the drive.

I don't know about mustangs though. I've been mostly into import and euro cars...so...if you're into American cars though, the mustang seems pretty nice as well...

My brother-in-law has a new Shelby GT, and is caught up more in the perceived mystique (by him at least) of the vehicle than the functional utility / quality by far.

What his Shelby does best is smoke tires, crab slowly through corners and make nice glowing colors with his brake discs. When he drove my Z4, he said it was more like a rocket go-kart than a real car and that he didn't want to "work that hard" just driving to the grocery store.

He also grills hamburgers 20 minutes per side, pressing them constantly against the surface to insure proper meat dehydration during cooking, belongs to an "elite" over 50's internet video gaming group and watches "The A-Team" reruns, so I guess his auto opinions aren't at all surprising.
