My only regrets is I didnt get a chance to install a EAT chip to see what gain it will bring. They didnt have a version that will ignore the security in the DME at the time.

I sold it because I bought a ML55

I'll get on here once in awhile...

Windshield trim flew off on the way home and the water pump failed, but was able to get to Jacksonville Florida. Replaced it then got to Virginia ok. The radiator intake deterorated a couple weeks later, had to replace whole coolant system. Replaced fan clutch, it was on its way out and had the radiator out anyway. Disovered driver's door had a failed door brake that had a plate spot welded to repair, it's now failing again. Ordered the kidney trim rings, but the grills need to be replaced too, the receiving nips are broken. The head unit skips when playing mp3's, so I need to replace that too.

Over all I am happy with the car, it's just got a few small issues, but I guess it's to be expected for a 13 year old car.

Isn't this always the pattern. Every car I ever bought immediately rebelled against me until I fed it some lovin ($$$) and we established a new relationship.;)

That's really not terrible...most of it wouldn't have manifested itself until a few months into ownership. Love that you drove it instead of shipping it, very cool.

that was one beautiful e34... Love the wheels :D

LordDrift, FYI, he actually had a black e34 also.

Yankee802, you're the new owner? Nice to see a fellow board member with the car. Quick question, what is the ET on the rear wheels? do you have any rubbing issues with the strut?

Yankee802

ET? They are 265s, I believe 10' wide, and don't rub.

A little off topic, I'm considering selling my M5, any interest? Don't need 3 cars. :)

Sorry to hear all the problem popping up on the trip home. The safety inspection went ok at the dealer.

ET = offset.
according to http://www.mk-motorsport.de/html_en/mk1_rims.htm

it is 18x8.5 13 ET and 18x10 20ET

Ok, this creates 2 questions:

I have some Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 275/35 & 245/40 18s, will they fit on the MK1s? How about clearance? Would I be better off getting tires in the same size that are currently on the rims in 265 & 225?

What is the interchangeability between e34 and e39 for wheels?

with hubcentric rings you can fit e39 wheels on the e34.. i have e39 wheels on my 6 and my 6 has the same wheel fitment as an e34 i believe

screwbiedoo15

Yeah, E34, E32, E24, and E28 all have the same wheel fitment as well as I believe the E60 and probably a couple other of the larger bmws

I don't see a problem running the 245's in the front. I actually ran that with my style 5's... But the rear, you may have some rubbing issues. When I first bought my mk1's, I did a test fit to see about upping my tires to 275's (from 265).. when I looked under the car, it looked like the tire was about 5mm (maybe even less) away from the rear strut. I just got some spacers so I can run wider tires and completely fill the gap.
