Hi to everyone. I've never formally introduced myself although I have posted a few times. I've learned more about my car here than anywhere else, I really think you guys know what you are talking about, so anyway here is my question I was wondering since my muffler is completely gone, if a e36 m3 muffler will fit my 89' 535i. I got it for free, so if it will fit I would like to use it. Somebody on here I think has a borla for an m3 on there car, but will a stock muffler fit?

is it just the muffler? Or is it from the cat back?

If you're just going to weld the actual muffler to the pipes then I'm sure it will fit. If it's the piping back.. then no.

It is the piping back, but if the muffler will fit I'll just weld new pipe. My resonator is rusted through also. Is it ok to take it out and just do pipe in place?

Sure, but it will be louder. The resonator has a big impact on the tone of the exhaust. There is an exhaust archive which may help somewhere. Do a search.

Thanks for the info guys I'll try to find out how it will sound, and it is so rusted the resonator is held in place by the heat shields so I doubt it will be louder than what it is.
