Alonso will get $51.3 mill per season at Renault(he signed for 2yrs with a "get out" clause after 1yr, and #1 status in writing:)).........I expect him to get more if he does well this year and makes a move to Ferrari, but they seem to be happy with Kimi and Massa at the moment.......guess we'll have to wait and see how this season unfolds!!!only 64 days left for the Aussie GP!!!:redspot

Same reason Schufacher lives there too. Most others live in Monaco for the same reason.

And you can understand why he moved to Switzerland. Lewis would have been hit with a $55m income tax bill from the UK government, had he stayed in his home country.

I'd pay that bill with gusto if I had the chance.

Well, I say, "Good on him!" I like Hamilton alot. I liked him as he came up, and I liked him when he got his deal. I even liked how he reacted to throwing away his shot at being the first rookie F1 Champ. He deserves it in my book, I think he has the potential to make some serious history.

Yeah, he's just such a model F1 driver, so perfectly correct when he's got the media spotlight. He deserves it in his book too (yeah, he already has one) and If I'm not mistaken, he just lost his chance to make the biggest history he could, but we'll wait and see how the years to come will define him.
I don't think he (or anyone else on the grid today) will make history or re-define the sport the way a certain other (retired) driver has done over the past 10 years or so.

No doubt Hamilton is good, but something about him I just don't like. Although him on Top Gear was pretty damn funny I must say!! (a good funny)

I wonder how much of that 138 million he will have to pay in taxes now?

I think nothing or very little, because the Swiss don't consider driving racecars a real profession:)

Monegasques pay no income tax. That's why everyone maintains a residence there.

Wiki:

Tax haven

The State has no income tax for individuals. The lack of personal income tax has led to a considerable number of wealthy "tax refugee" residents from European countries, who earn the majority of their income from activity outside Monaco; celebrities such as Formula One drivers attract most of the attention, but the majority of them are business people.

I'd hitchhike to every race to drive an F1 car:help
