Dealers can take orders as long as BMW keeps allocating them production slots for the 1 series. BMW expects to deliver about 20,000 1 series to the U.S. in the shortened 2008 MY. Talk to dealers in your area to select one you're comfortable with.

I got the exact same car excpet mine is Alpine White. We're going to do Performance Center delivery on this one. The people I've talked to that have done it said it's outstanding. We were going to do European Delivery but the whole "must come out of the dealers allocation" kind of derailed that plan.

This may have been brought up already but is 2008 going to be the only year for the 1 series or does BMW plan to continue producing them in years to come? I remember seeing a thread about this but I can't be 100% sure.

Thanks BJ! My concern is being able to pry her fingers off the wheel long enough for ME to drive it!! This may just be the car that brings her out at the local events (instead of just O'Fest!). You're right though, this should be an awsome car!

My only auto-x concern with it is no LSD... In order of priority I see; a Dinan chip, 17x8.5 with 245's all the way around (if they'll fit in front) and limited slip.

Will the 135i be classed in SCCA Solo as A Stock, do you think?

Popular opinion seems to put it in D Stock right now. In stock form, the skinny front tires are definitely going to hinder it.

That is freaking unbelievable. Only $38,300... I could afford that on my meager wage even after converting USD to AUD. We're paying a yet-to-be-confirmed $80,000 for the bloody thing.

We've put an order in but that's about it. They haven't said anything about production details yet.

Dan, if you want to test fit 17x9's with wide Yokohama 255/40/17's or 17x9 with Hankook 245/40/17 Rcomps let me know.

04 M3, then F/I it like no other........You can easily get over 400 whp with a supercharger in it, with stock internals

Well, when you think about it, look at all of the other cars on the market. Most of them are going into the high 20's, some even low 30's

Its worth every penny once you start up any BMW, put it into 1st gear (manual ftw) and drop the clutch and hear the engine sing.........:redspot

I'm not an auto audiophile, so the basic setup is fine with me. There was a book I read in college English class, titled "The One Hundred Dollar Misunderstanding", where the black prostitute tells the white boy "You don't listen to music, you listen at it". That's me all over.

For all of you that pre ordered how does it work? You go to the dealer and tell them what you want and just wait? Do you fill out all the normal paperwork as you would if you were buying the car on spot or do you just leave a deposit?

After price negotiations and when you tell your dealer you intend to buy he'll ask for a deposit, mine was $1000 and refundable. If the dealer has available production allocations you'll be able to start spec'ing out your car for production scheduling right away. If he has no allocation you will go on a wait list until BMW AG sends the next batch of allocations and the dealer gives them out to people on the wait list, hopefully you.
