View Full Version : Magilla's welcome back thread (aka "teh Cheyenne Lunch Thread") Magilla 01-09-2008, 01:49 PM The Wife and I are planning on going shopping in Cheyenne on Saturday. Anyone wanna join us for lunch? powellsd 01-09-2008, 02:59 PM Hey Chris whats going on? You and the wifey have a good xmas and new year.. Magilla 01-09-2008, 03:16 PM Not a whole lot, Shannon... Christmas was kinda "meh" since my mom spent it in the hospital... How are things on your end? powellsd 01-09-2008, 03:40 PM sorry to hear your mom was in the hospital. Hope all is well now THings are going great here. Working away, trying to save money for a new garage and for several track sessions this year. to many things i need to buy for the car..and its not cheap stuff either.. Magilla 01-09-2008, 04:00 PM Nothing is cheap anymore...:) AlarmedBread 01-09-2008, 04:05 PM Sure it is, you just have to do work for a company based in the UK and be paid in GBP, then everything is half price. :shifty Dark Helmet 01-09-2008, 04:11 PM roffle... good to hear from you chris. Magilla 01-09-2008, 04:31 PM I must admit that I have been somewhat of a "lurker" lately... The Wife and I are planning a trip to Omaha this spring. I'll have to let you guys know when we set a more definite date... powellsd 01-09-2008, 04:51 PM you should come to the annual dinner.. I think we are going to make it that way.. Dark Helmet 01-09-2008, 05:14 PM Hastings in April???? Magilla 01-09-2008, 05:15 PM That's a good idea, Shannon... What's in Hastings? Dark Helmet 01-09-2008, 05:20 PM www.racemph.com Magilla 01-09-2008, 05:25 PM www.racemph.com (http://www.racemph.com) I'm afraid I don't qualify for that event... I am not an advanced solo driver...:( AlarmedBread 01-09-2008, 05:57 PM It's listed incorrectly. Thats just for driving friday, the sat/sunday is a driving school anyone can attend. http://motorsportreg.com/pap/eventlist_detail.cfm?uidEvent=F5CAF221-0E13-782C-3C91AC80037BF17E Magilla 01-09-2008, 06:16 PM By the time I got the Ix ready for this, I wouldn't have the money for the school... Helmet... Tires... Brakes...(still) Suspension...(understeer of DOOM, discovered during BHR3) AlarmedBread 01-09-2008, 06:29 PM Drive wifey's mazda :evil2 Talk to shannon about the brakes, they're pretty cheap and you don't need anything more than stock replacements. The only time I've had brake fade with stock parts was when I forgot to take the tape off my foglights/brake ducts and let a wild man drive my car at MAM. Even then it didn't get scary bad. As for the understeer, it's an e30, and an ix at that. hope it rains and you'll be in good shape! Magilla 01-09-2008, 06:31 PM Drive wifey's mazda :evil2 Everybody's a comedian...:D AlarmedBread 01-09-2008, 06:39 PM Just run your all seasons, I'll be on my steelies with all seasons since I want to save my 'good' tires for autox where they might make a noticeable difference. Pretty sure the only crazies on sticky tires in the novice group will be Jeremy and James. :shifty Magilla 01-09-2008, 06:50 PM ok, then that solves the tire issue... Now solve the understeer...lol AlarmedBread 01-09-2008, 07:31 PM http://youtube.com/watch?v=OO1uXMPc0yo ;) Dark Helmet 01-09-2008, 07:38 PM remove the front driveshaft. powellsd 01-09-2008, 08:24 PM i will be running sticky's. Left over race tires. Hankook's. Good for a few more track sessions. Magilla 01-10-2008, 10:47 AM http://youtube.com/watch?v=OO1uXMPc0yo ;) I'm sure the track officials will love that... remove the front driveshaft. What fun is that? Dark Helmet 01-10-2008, 11:10 AM What fun is that? lots.... Magilla 01-10-2008, 11:16 AM remove the front driveshaft. Wouldn't that also put extra strain on the transfer case? Dark Helmet 01-10-2008, 11:23 AM ok ok ok ok.... scrap t-case and front driveshaft... use convensional getrag 260, done. Magilla 01-10-2008, 12:21 PM What about the weight of the front diff and half shafts? Nose heavy car = understeer...:help Front diff goes through oil pan. Can't use standard oil pan without changing oil pump. Can't use different oil pump without machining the block...:eyecrazy There has to be an easier way...;) Dark Helmet 01-10-2008, 12:32 PM leave the front diff... just put solid everything on the rear suspension and super-still springs/shocks... but leave the front. MAKE it oversteer!!! Magilla 01-10-2008, 12:57 PM Are you in a giving mood? Dark Helmet 01-10-2008, 01:00 PM eh... not that giving. Magilla 01-10-2008, 01:09 PM 'cause I'm jus a poor country boy... Dark Helmet 01-10-2008, 01:10 PM I honestly feel bad for you when some appraiser get's hold of your dad's setup there and tells you how bad the inheritance/estate taxes are going to be... duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude. Magilla 01-10-2008, 01:16 PM Maybe I can call a Financial adviser... Do you know any? AlarmedBread 01-10-2008, 03:30 PM Don't go ruining a minty IX you fools! :nono Either run it as is, or sell it and get an i. Just drive it like you would any FWD car and you'll be fine. I wouldn't suggest you make any modifications other than replacing bushings etc. Maybe a shifter and other little things like that. If you want over steer, go play in the snow. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wt-wJayTMU&feature=related topdown323 01-10-2008, 03:40 PM Chris that coulda been you the last time you were down...why didn't we think on that? Magilla 01-10-2008, 03:47 PM Don't go ruining a minty IX you fools! :nono Either run it as is, or sell it and get an i. Just drive it like you would any FWD car and you'll be fine. I wouldn't suggest you make any modifications other than replacing bushings etc. Maybe a shifter and other little things like that. If you want over steer, go play in the snow. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wt-wJayTMU&feature=related roffle... That vid reminded me of my last trip to the mall...;) I don't plan on making any drastic changes to the iX... Most of what I posted was in jest... Dark Helmet 01-10-2008, 04:26 PM indeed... that car is ridiculous for the money you paid, I'm still jealous. and I could likely be conned into letting you take parade laps in my car... Magilla 01-10-2008, 05:57 PM Jer, How strong are your Mod powers? Can you change the thread title to something more appropriate? Magilla 01-10-2008, 06:02 PM ...rofflecakes and lol cream... Dark Helmet 01-10-2008, 06:03 PM :devillook Magilla 01-10-2008, 06:05 PM You could have left off the lunch thing... no one has been talking about it anyways... Dark Helmet 01-10-2008, 06:06 PM hey... someone might come back looking for that thread... you never know.... Dark Helmet 01-10-2008, 11:47 PM dude, i killed your thread! AlarmedBread 01-11-2008, 12:14 AM You say that like it's a new thing. :stickoutt Dark Helmet 01-11-2008, 12:30 AM pwnt Magilla 01-11-2008, 10:51 AM dude, i killed your thread! I blame Shannon...:shifty powellsd 01-11-2008, 12:15 PM blamming me...I think it was alarmedbread Magilla 01-11-2008, 12:25 PM naw... see post #2...lollerz powellsd 01-11-2008, 12:36 PM yeah but you continued on :) I know how to fix this...... Mr Project 01-11-2008, 08:09 PM Chris, try a decent alignment with near-zero front toe, and 5psi more in the rear tires than the front. That might make a nice difference in the understeer for very little $$. Then, like ...uh...Chris said, drive it like a FWD car. I've had some understeering pigs that would rotate quite nicely once I learned how to manage the weight transfer on that particular car (celica, accords, etc). Trail braking can be your friend...and you'll be the only one in an E30 doing much of that. :) Dark Helmet 01-11-2008, 10:55 PM or just yank the e-brake mid-turn... AlarmedBread 01-11-2008, 11:44 PM I will give you my tokico front springs, leave the rears stock. The higher spring rate in the rear + 4" higher ride height will induce lots of over steer. :buttrock Dark Helmet 01-14-2008, 01:10 PM I think you're reversed there.... Magilla 01-14-2008, 01:31 PM Will I need a Helmet? Dark Helmet 01-14-2008, 01:31 PM ja. club should have one you can borrow... Magilla 01-14-2008, 01:32 PM ja. club should have one you can borrow... Is it pink with yellow daisies? Dark Helmet 01-14-2008, 01:34 PM no.... its more mauve than pink... Magilla 01-14-2008, 01:36 PM no.... its more mauve than pink... :( I didn't want it to clash with my interior... Dark Helmet 01-14-2008, 01:38 PM :rofl everything goes with black! Magilla 01-14-2008, 01:47 PM Not everything goes with red... http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/8900/dsc00295sd5.jpg http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/8472/dsc00296im1.jpg Dark Helmet 01-14-2008, 05:16 PM doh. AlarmedBread 01-14-2008, 09:09 PM I think you're reversed there.... Tokico dude. front springs are about 90lbs and sag so badly that I could remove them without a spring compressor. :eyecrazy Dark Helmet 01-15-2008, 01:34 PM Tokico dude. front springs are about 90lbs and sag so badly that I could remove them without a spring compressor. :eyecrazy dang... that suxors. topdown323 01-15-2008, 03:28 PM Magilla you shouldn't smoke...:laugh Magilla 01-15-2008, 04:51 PM Magilla you shouldn't smoke...:laugh Those are old pics...;) I've been smoke free for 2 months...:D Dark Helmet 01-16-2008, 12:10 PM too cold to go outside??? Magilla 01-16-2008, 12:32 PM too cold to go outside??? Naw... Just got tired of it... Dark Helmet 01-16-2008, 12:50 PM more money for mods... Magilla 01-16-2008, 12:59 PM more money for mods... DING! DING! DING! We have a WINNER!!! Dark Helmet 01-16-2008, 01:10 PM woot.
