The HACK 01-08-2008, 04:22 PM You can purchase extended warranties.
hye min 01-08-2008, 04:26 PM well... i'm not going to buy extended warranty.
anyway thanks
I doubt the dealer will fix somthing that is not broken. Like Hack said, Buy a waranty or take your chances. GH
SilverBeam 01-08-2008, 04:41 PM Have the car looked over by an independant shop. It will be a 100 dollar investment with the hopes that they find something that'll cost more to fix. But your car is probably fine.
innerconx04 01-08-2008, 08:07 PM Trade it in on a M? :)

roh92cp 01-09-2008, 10:32 AM I have the same issue warranty expires feb 08. I took my car in before putting it up for the winter back in Oct. I called the dealership 6 hours away and made an appointment. I told them the car had 44k and warranty was expiring and I wanted the car gone through. I wanted the brakes done and because the pads were very thin and worn. I asked how they determined when that service was needed the service rep said that the brake light would have to be one indicating that the pads were worn down. I also said that the rain sensor had a small bubble in where it attaches to the windshield. I made a written list of my conerns from worn interior plastic to fuel door not flush missing fasteners cup holder sometimes gets stuck ext.. ext.. 14 items. When I delivered the car I told the service rep the brakes had slight vibration when braking at high speeds that was enough to get them to replace front pads and rotors. The hole windshield was replaced with rain sensor attached. They replaced the plastic piece under the e brake because it was worn and a few others. Half of my list was taken care of under warranty. I did have to negotiate hard with them on many of the items as they said they were not normal warranty issued. The bottom line was they wanted a good rating from me and ended up giving in on some I never thought they would cover like the worn interior trim. Also 4 hours after I picked up the car I noticed a scratch on the front bumper that was not there before. I called the dealership and told them about it and said I was dissapointed that they did this and did not fix or report it. They first tried to say the scratch was there. But in the end they took the car back and repainted the hole bumper for me. So my advice is try for as much as you can, you never now what you can get unless you ask.

I would have a good look at all the plastic in the interior. IE: the painted plastic in the steering wheel, shifter, plastic at the window controlls and check for chipped paint and have any replaced. If there is moisture in any of the headlights or a pealing look to the clear lens of the headlights. Cracked plastic, tail lights , the third brake light on the trunk lid. If you have a roadster, any air leaks or water leaks. Check the fan belt for cracking. Does your rain sensor for the windshield wipers function, you can get a windshield out of that one. Stearing is smothe.
If you complain about something they will fix it as long as you are under 50k miles.
Just a few thoughts.
Reach 01-10-2008, 12:14 AM This is going to sound retarded, but we have rain sensors? What package were they offered on? I have premium and sport, but not convenience, and I don't have rain sensors (that I know of!).
The perils of a used car. Not knowing what the little things are.
RobMCoupe 01-10-2008, 08:27 AM I believe 03 and 04 rain sensor wiper is part of the convenience package.

According to the window sticker that was on the car when we bought it, the rain sensor is a standard feature under the heading engineering and safety features. Keep in mind this is an 04/04 build, so if your car was made before that, you may not have the feature.
To operate ,
The key must be at position one or car running. On the stalk on the right hand side, push the stalk up one position and the wipers should wipe once and from that point on the rain sensor will activate the wipers. The rain sensor will stay activated untill you push the stalk down. Meaning that if you activate the sensor and shut the car off, the next time you get water or rain it will still be activated. That caught me off guard a few times.
Reach 01-10-2008, 07:18 PM 11/04 build date, 2005 model. I do not have this feature, which now that I research more about it (and repairing / replacing it) I'm glad about. I don't mind flicking the stalk when it starts raining! I imagine this is a part of the convenience package.
I have the rain sensor on my 11/02 build date car.

This isn't so on my car, must have changed in the intervening 18 months between my build date and yours.
