Gents and Ladies,
Anyone with knowledge or experience with 'Seat Time' which does DE's at Roeb Rd throughout the year. I like the fact that they do one day fri events which does not tie up the whole weekend. Any comments good or bad?

But I'm in Athens and slightly closer. Also I'd rather sleep in my own bed wake up early and go for the day. Any of you guys have any comments about Seat Time or heard anything? Roeb RD worth the drive? I know its tough to compare to Rd ATL that's only minutes away for us.

I don't know anything about Seat Time, but Roebling is a lot of fun. It is a great track with very little concrete to bounce off of.

Seat Time is a good group, plenty of track time. I've only run in the test and tune sessions not sure about instructors and what not. Pretty good bang for the buck.

They basically try to fit as many 20 min. sessions in for the various groups. They just keep running them back to back to back.

thanks, that's what I want to know. I may do a day coming up and if I do I'll report back from the beginner DE level.

I haven't decided yet. I may try and do CMP with ya'll in Feb. I'm also assuming Roebling and Road A. I don't know about anything after that yet, aside from Road A with P'tree, of course. You?

such a LOVELY drive to ROebling on I-16, just so much FUNNNNNNNNN

JB, what carnage are you refering to in Sept?

" like that concept after the carnage at the last BWM DE in sept. PM'ed you as well. technical question."

I don;t recall any carnage @ Roebling? different tracks have differnt risk. Roebling is a low risk track. easy for beginners BUT beginners need guidence and coaching. Does Seat Time give you that? Can't beat CCA instructors (excluding me since I am THE BEST instructor ANYONE can get) :)

Please someone correct me but I think that there was a red 951 that met the wall hard at turn 7 and an S4 that was hurt badly in the ESS's. This was during the sept bmw DE at RA. Or am I getting the weekends mixed up? My kids make me stupid me thinks at times.

I've driven with Seat Time many times - my first event was with them. The instruction was ok back when I started, but I've heard and seen that it has definitely improved.

The run a very good program - run as many 20m sessions as possible. As the day goes on they will collapse run groups to get even more time for people if possible. One group off, next group on - runs pretty much like clockwork. Best part is that the drivers there seem to respect that and there have been very few incidents (and no bent sheet-metal when I've gone).

I have NEVER left one of their events wishing I had had more on-track time with the exception of running out of tires (i.e. my fault).

I also really like Roebling Road as a track. I also have in-laws that live on Hilton Head - so the drive is always worth it... :)

Jon K., who runs Seat Time events is a good guy. When I eventually get the car sorted enough to do a DE, he's who I'll be running with at Roebling.

This makes me feel better. I didn't want to drive 3.5 hrs and find out the hard way about Seat Time as an organization. I'll see if they have room for a noob in Feb.

There is also a CCA DE @ Roebling in Feb. with the First Coast Chapter. 80% BMWs. You will probably get an instructor who drives a BMW and knows how it handles and reacts.

I saw that as well but what attracks me to Seat time is the single day DE on fri and it does not take up the whole weekend. I have 2 small kids they'll be in school the majority of the day :).

I ran with Seat Time in October and totally agree with Idiot328's comments above. My instructor was great and had a lot of experience at Roebling. Several of the other instructors were also very nice to talk to and offered good advice. My favorite part was in the afternoon, because they "signed-off" on me so that I could run solo, and they opened up the track the last couple of hours to all groups continously (it was a small group that day because of poor weather). It was awesome being able to just run lap after lap until I was exhausted, come in for a break, then hit the track again. I literally ran out of energy before I ran out of track time! Overall, I thought Jon and his father ran an absolutely great event that day. It's not as structured as the BMWCCA events, but since there are a lot fewer cars involved it seems a little more laid back and you get more "seat time". The focus on safety and learning the proper line was still the priority.

The track itself is fun, but not quite as interesting as Road Atlanta. It's less intimidating, but it's still fast. In fact, I was hitting a higher top speed at the end of the front straight at RR in the rain than I was at the end of the back straight at RA in the dry!

I would definitely recommend Seat Time and hope to run down there again with them.

Just to update, I ran seat time on Friday at RRR. The event was run well. Despite the weather and the spins that resulted, they tried to stay on time and give everyone as many runs as possible. Someone in a Z06 went through turn 1 and landed beached on top of one of the mounds tearing up the front end. (As someone said, the driver needed an after market radiator anyway.) My instructor is a regular instructor for PCA and Peachtree BMW. He was helpful and was spot on with advice and what I needed to work on. I did spin as well coming out turn 4. Made a 180 and he was actully amused and called it a nonevent. I was not and nearly dirtied my underwear and this little spin will make me move up my plans for gutting the interior and up grading safety gear.
We got in 2 runs in the AM and could have had 4 runs in the PM but I elected to skip the last because of the storm that came. Jon Krolewicz who runs the events is a super guy. I like the liberal cancelation policy.
Bottom line, I encourage anyone who is considering seat time to give it a try. I don't think you will regret it.

Dr. B,

Glad you had a good time, and I second the safety thing. Did you end up picking that seat up from Harrison or are you still in the vaders? You'll enjoy yourself much more with a proper seat and restraint system. No more wedging your foot into the corner to keep you in place. Not only will you be safer, but more confident on the track. Can't wait to see the car in action again. When's you next planned DE?

G-man,
thanks, you and your posse were instrumental in this build process, thanks again. Speaking of which, I'm seeing David on Wed for DE inspection and talk about options with the interior. Kirk rollbar is the next on the list. Esp after the recent incident at the NASA event at CMP and my little spin. I might drop by the store and have you rebalance a tire that seems to vibrate a little. Will you be there?
And the next DE is Peachtree DE in 2 weeks. Sorry I'll miss you. I hear you'll be attending to 'other business'.
