View Full Version : Anyone Running Upgraded Fuel Injectors From five0?
farhod 01-07-2008, 02:11 AM i bought a set of these and my car has been running real shitty...took it to savage bmw and got a diagnosis (thanks jt///m3) and the guy told me i had 3 pages of codes and asked if i had different fuel injectors..told him yea i got the upgraded ones 21.5lbs and he said that may be causing the misfires...he reset the cars adaptation values and my cel still comes back and the car is still running rough with a rough idle.....anyone else have these and running fine? PLIK???
My gosh man, which ones did you get?
Here's a link to their product page: http://www.fiveomotorsport.com/Injector_SetsBMW.asp

the top ones
I've had those exact same ones, Bosch - 0280155710-F6VE Design III Upgrade, for a year now, problem-free.
I think your mechanic misdiagnosed the problem. In fact, my indy was very worried about my car when I installed those new injectors, but his worries were in vain.
Anyway, I think you need to look at what the codes are and post them for us. Don't worry, we'll figure it out. :)
bimmerfixr 01-07-2008, 12:18 PM I put their 24lb injectors in and several days later started getting misfire codes. Turns out a couple of the plastic injector connectors had cracked and I didn't notice at the time.:( They were intermittantly coming off the injector causing the misfores. They crack in the area of the metal spring clip that hold the connector to the injector. Its not always easy to find a replacement, I had an extra engine harness available so I had plenty of connectors, none left though. maybe aftermarket can do better. Check it out and good luck.
deciphe 01-07-2008, 08:58 PM will the design 2 or 3, 19 lb injectors work are the 3's better?
Platinum4Life 01-07-2008, 09:32 PM Plik, did you / do you see any performance increase? More responsive? Better mileage?

Well, I installed the new fuel injectors while I was replacing a long list of other things (gaskets, sensors, etc.), so I really have no way of telling. I'd like to think they've improved performance, though. :)
I kind of wish I separated the performance modifications from the regular maintenance, but getting that wiring harness out of the way is kind of a pain. So avoiding having to do that twice was more appealing at the time.
Platinum4Life 01-08-2008, 01:38 AM I thought you installed them when you rebuilt (replaced) your engine. What kind of mileage do you get now?
farhod 01-08-2008, 02:43 AM im getting 11.6 avg mpg driving on the street

Yes, rebuilding an engine is what I consider replacing a long list of other things. :) Seriously though, when I bought the replacement engine I still had them strip it of everything that I wanted to replace, so I still ended up getting my brand new valley pan, intake gaskets, valve covers, water pump, I think I replaced the oxygen sensors and MAF around that time, etc..
Anyway, right now I get just over 15 mpg, but I almost never go on long trips where I maintain a highway/freeway speed for very long, so the computer only calculates my short sprints -- I don't drive in a way that I'd describe as, uh, conservatively. :devillook
mustangturbo50 01-31-2008, 08:51 PM ok question. i have a full set of orange top 5.0 stock mustang injectors. i took them out when i upgraded my fox body, now woudl they be an upgrade to my 98 328i? they are pink top. i have m3 cams and ported polished head, exhaust, and underdrives. and a intake, im goign to put the obd 1 style on in the next couple days and i figure while i have it off id put them in if they will help. but i dunno the lbs of the stock pink tops on my car now. any ideas?

You're missing the pintel cap on the mustang injector :stickoutt
mustangturbo50 02-01-2008, 09:59 AM both of them actually, lol yeah thehy need to be sent in but i wanna make sure they are an upgrade first
series 02-01-2008, 03:13 PM You need software to retard the timing for the spark.
JimmyBones 02-01-2008, 03:25 PM The 325 injectors look exactly like my M70 750 injectors and I have a mustang 5.0 injector in my car with no difference noticed. Plus the 5.0 injectors are a hell of a lot cheaper then stock replacement.
mustangturbo50 02-01-2008, 09:11 PM so just do nothign with the 5.0 orange and get a set of #24 and my obd1 upgrade and ill be good i think.
JimmyBones 02-02-2008, 01:23 PM Hey I will buy your mustang injectors from you because I could use some new injectors.
Bukwild 02-02-2008, 05:46 PM I replaced my injectors by buying the exact replacements from a place I found online. I will send out the link. I paid like 350-380 to replace all 8 and once i did this got rid of my constant check engine light everytime I punched the gas. Also my idle at park was smooth as glass, I could not even tell the car was on.
Once we removed the old ones I noticed that #6 and 7 injector was stuck wide open so I was loosing gas while the car was parked and spraying way to much gas and running rich as hell. This also ruined my 2 pre cat o2 sensors that still need to get replaced. Anyway I would not recommend using larger that stock fuel injectors because your fuel computer will not be able to compensate for the extra fuel flowing at normal stock duty cycle. Remove them or start buying a new cat.
