Just arrived home tonight from Tallahassee with our latest 2005 745L. (Just totaled our 2003 in December...cabin stayed perfect and so did I:>) We bought the car yesterday with confidence because it has been CPO'd. But when we arrived here in NC there were a few problems..no owners manual, no floor mats, no wedges in rear seating area....all will be mailed with the exception of the wedges...which they say are not standard....although they were in the last 3 we owned....

Anyway, on the way home we plug in our phone to charge and notice the outlet is dead, as is the one on the passenger floor and the passenger back. The driver side rear works. We also notice one of the little running lights out in the front. Then when we go to show off the rear DVD, which we did get to work at the dealership (eventhough we did notice the bulb out at the dealership and was creditied $500 to fix at home), it stayed grayed out and would never recognize the DVD. I was probably in too much of a hurry to replace my totaled car and did not bother to read the reviews on Capital Euro...I can find nothing positive about their service dept. on the Internet...even one person said they are not a primary BMW dealership and CANNOT CPO a vehicle. What does that mean?

I have not had time to check fuses...could one fuse cause so much and should they have had all those things with the car since it was CPO'd???? The car has 50,000 miles so is out of maintenence..also a yellow indicator is saying it needs window washer fluid....something sure smells fishy..

ONLY BMW can CPO a BMW. You would have to buy it from a BMW dealer. HOWEVER...... if you are the third owner, and the car was a CPO when it was sold to the second owner, AND upon the second owner selling the car, all the correct paperwork was filled out, the CPO warranty is transferable to you.

Hope you understood that! I sure hope or your sake it is a CPO. It will be a hand full if not. I know. The rear "foot rests" are STANDARD equipment on the Li. The dealer knows nothing about BMWs.

I would strongly suggest you take the car to your BMW dealer and have them print out the service record for it as well as the options the car came with. I might also suggest you return the car and get your money back. FL has a 3 day "cooling off" period IIRC.

Good luck!

I did a little research, and asked for the CPO Vehicle Inspection Checklist. They emailed and I called BMW north america. They said CPO was pending and should not be a problem.

Good to know the "foot rests" are standard. I thought so. I had never seen it without them. Maybe tomorrow I will threaten to bring it back if they do not provide the foot rests too. I am happy to learn of the "cooling off" period...that will give us leverage.

A fuse fixed the lighter plugs and the DVD also started working.

I hope it works out for you. Sounds like you have a good start on getting sorted out. Keep us informed, it might just help some others around here.

Maybe I missed it, but what happened to your other one? Any pictures of it? I was VERY impressed with the e38 whan I had my head on in 06. Doors and electics worked perfectly even though the engine was displaced and the car was distroyed.
