when i replace the asc filter located just below the radiator. will the system need to be bled in any fashion? i assume when i fill the pentosin resivoir for the steering, the system will be recharged or is the asc independent of
the steering hydraulic system/lines. any tricks or caveats when removing the asc filter canister to replace the filter element? i do not to screw anything up!

Automatic Stability Control. The "+T" actually is an option, what it does is apply the brakes to the slipping wheel and reduces power until the car has traction again.

Hi, I replaced all the hoses, and both filters and all I had to do way start the car turn the wheel full both ways a few time and the recheck the fluid level. Make sure you 'release' the pressure of the the 'Bomb'.
Hope this helps,

How do you know if you have the "+T" option? The system kicks in to stop the wheels spinning, but i don't know if the ASC alone does that?

you should be able to decipher the Vin # which should list all the options the car came with.............here is a link to a Vin decoder site.......

To properly bleed the ASC+T system :
- Disconnect the ABS/ASC+T Control Module (Drivers side door sill)
- Top off the hydraulic fluid (make sure the system is de-pressurized)
- Turn on the engine for at least 60 seconds at idle speed (this charges the secondary circuit - automatic charging of the ASC+T plunger accumulator)
- Turn off the ignition, reconnect the ASC+T Module and open the PENTOSIN reservoir
- Attach a short piece of hose from the bleeder screw atop the regulator valve and put the other end into the PENTOSIN reservoir
- Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock and let everything run until there are no more bubbles coming out of the bleeder valve.
- Close everything up and you are done.
This procedure is important to make sure the ASC+T Pressurization pump is working as it should.

This site doesn't list any options other than engine type and fluid capacities. If you really want to have the build sheet, you can go to the BMW Dealer and request a print out, or contact Jud Spencer at: http://www.8coupe.com/contact.htm (http://www.8coupe.com/contact.htm)and request one there. He does this in his off time, so please be kind and patient - it is only one guy answering a thousand requests.
