View Full Version : very wierd, damn weather messed up my cars electronics e23
THEhomelessONE 01-05-2008, 02:12 PM ok well if you live in CA you will know there was a pretty nasty storm yesterday, and when i woke up today my neighbor told me that my car kept him up the whole night, so i go to look, the alarm wasnt even on, but the car randomly honks by itself, not at an even pace or volume, just totally random, and its not the same tone as when you press the horn, and when i tried starting the car, it wouldnt until like the 10th crank, and this has never happend before, and i let it warm up, and i looked at the little orange calculator thing that says the time and range and temp etc. and it was throwing me random signs that dont mean anything, like a broken calculator, or it would just go blank, i have no clue what i need to fix, honestly, im getting tired of this car, if anybody wants it, $1500 OBO, im only 16, and i need a car i can take care off
THEhomelessONE 01-05-2008, 03:27 PM ok heres a video of whats happening, sorry for the crappy quality

THEhomelessONE 01-05-2008, 11:44 PM yea, cant say im happy about it, but i want a car i dont give a sh*t about, so if someone dings it in a parking lot, no prob, or if i break something, so what? like a little 1.5L civic
RWD+BALD TIRES+4700LB+RAIN= scary
too stressful to drive a nice car everyday, especially around a bunch of other people who dont give a damn about their cars either and havent had their licenses for more than 2 years lol

I guess it depends where you live, around here I see Bently's , Ferrari's, Lambos etc. EVERY DAY. I'm not worried about it, but I just get pissed off after a clay/polish/sealer/wax and 5 hours later there's dust on the damn paint. Black looks so good clean, but soooo crappy dirty. Ugh.

THEhomelessONE 01-06-2008, 03:10 AM damn its the same prob again, it just started like 10 mins ago, the key lock and unlock thing works but its temporary, does anybody know whats wrong? im pretty sure the weather is involved in this one but what could it be affecting?
740ibimmer 01-06-2008, 03:48 AM UR still a weird one bro. what a trip
mojocoggo 01-06-2008, 01:31 PM If you want to get to the bottom of this, pull off the cover under the steering column. Look for a thick(ish) red wire that is standing alone and is connected to itself via a small white connector. That wire has something to do with the alarm, and it would make that same horn sound (different horn than when you press the wheel) when the wire was connected. Just yank that wire up outta there or disconnect it. My 1988 535is did the same thing. As for the OBC freaking out, I'm not too sure. All I would do is just disconnect everything and fiddle around back there, see if you find anything.
Also I want your car!
THEhomelessONE 01-06-2008, 08:05 PM ooo, yea because i did take the cluster out before, but this was like 3 months ago and it just started this on saturday when there was a storm, but yea $1,500
