View Full Version : 850 Aftermarket?
stallion8797 01-05-2008, 07:48 AM Hello,
I'm very interested in picking one of these up as a second shop car, but I'm curious as to what kind of modifications exist for it. Are just the basics available (Intake, headers, exhaust) or are there a full array of parts?
Is there a need out there for hese parts to be created if they're not already available?
TxGR8White 01-07-2008, 12:48 AM When you say "shop car", you mean get one to constantly work on, right? because that is what will most likely happen unless you are willing to spend some $$$.
stallion8797 01-07-2008, 07:24 PM By shop car I meant we have a Shop that focuses on Over-looked cars. The 8 series looks to be one of those cars.
8eights 01-07-2008, 08:59 PM Do you fabricate over looked parts for said car? If so, There's plenty of moulah to be made---Sway Bars, Headers etc... You could expect a minimum of 40 sets each already sold for nice quality parts?
stallion8797 01-08-2008, 12:25 AM Yes, we make performance parts for cars that other companies won't get involved in because of the low volume.
I know it doesn't compare to the 8 series, but we currently make custom performance parts and accessories for the Chrysler Crossfire. There is absolutely no aftermarket for this particular car and since we've began making parts for it, the owners are much happier.
With basic bolt ons, we've managed to drop the stock time from 15.1 to 14.6, and the RWHP from 175 to 200. Once it gets warmer we'll be doing more advanced things like headers and engine work, but for right now we're perfecting our tuning.
So if there is an interest, would it be better to go with the 850, Csi, or 840?
8eights 01-08-2008, 12:49 AM There would be pretty much a immediate sale out on a quality set of thicker Sway bars for 8 series period, There's even a way to get donors to copy, They are not all the same, The 840's and 850Csi are the same but the 850i year 1991 and early 1992 will be your biggest market! They have been done before at 27mm front and 19mm rear with excellent results, The last guy sold out and disappeared? He made an excellent product though.

stallion8797 01-09-2008, 01:57 AM we're in central NJ. I think borrowing a car would be our most financially sensible move (these things are kind of expensive). Once it gets warmer we'll be asking around, but for right now I want to test the waters and see what direction we would be going in.
What computer is in the OBD2 cars? We do a lot of custom tuning with a company in Germany so that might be something we could offer right off the bat.
Sway bars and headers will definately be looked into.
Koizumi 01-09-2008, 03:28 AM Ahhh, this is nice news. Any well-made aftermarket upgrade parts for E31 are more than welcome in my book.
Cheers
RANE2001 01-11-2008, 10:56 AM I think if you make good quality parts at a reasonable price you will do very well.
