Ok, I sorted out the Magnaflow Tips issue -- thanks to you gentlemen for all of your opinions/input!

Now I've got larger 3.75" diameter tips that fit the exhaust opening very nicely.

The tips are staggered as you can see. And, they no longer stick out too much like my previous installation.

Can't wait to install the CSi rear valance/diffuser!

Is this what you mean by "front side"?

Previous too-long tips installation:

I didn't take pics while she was up in the air... I should've.

The pipes were cut right after the resonator(s).

The tips I had installed are:

Magnaflow# 35158

Dimensions:

3.5" x 4.5" Diameter
2.25" I.D. Inlet
7" Length

Of course, the tips were custom cut to fit perfectly; and I also had them installed staggered.

Thanks :) I'm debadging the car and I'm adding custom lettering. I will take pics when it's done. And no, there won't be the V8 anymore...

Nice!

Are the tips the OEM 840Ci chrome slip-ons? I had them on my OEM exhaust setup, they are very nice.

The original black ones are the most beautiful ones.

I disagree! On a black car you can barely see them.

As I, the OEM units are horrid in both style and sound (or lack there of).

I also agree that black tips are not nice at all. One exception: if you have a white E31.

Soundwise, stock is not so great unless you want a sedate driving experience. This is nice if you have an E38 or E32 V12 (I liked owning these big V12s because they were nice luxury sedans and they were quiet).

But the E31 needs all the help it can get to sound like what it looks like.

I believe you can get the "V8" tag on e-bay... be aware that the font is not correct and does not match the 840ci. I think they are from a benz. If it's what you want... it's close. I put the V12 on my 740 which was tagged as a 750 when I bought it (honest) it looks good and I put it on just cause it was what I wanted to do... When I bought it I questioned the guy about the rebadge, he said you see it, it looks phatt, you gonna change it? I said probably not and haven't
The car looks bad ass and that's just the way it is (IMO). Black with 750 chrome grill, Xenon headlights, White tail lights, side markers and blingkers, match painted rocker panels, chrome trunk lid trim, dual Sebring oval tip mufflers thru the rear valance and tinted windows w/clean black interior.
