View Full Version : Where to go in Mass. or New Hampshire
NYCMPOWER 01-04-2008, 03:16 PM I planning a trip north this Febuary. I was wondering if anyone can help me out with my decision on where to go. I want to stay in a coastal type town with lots to do...i.e. pubs/good nightlife in either Mass. or New Hampshire. If not a coastal town, somewhere with Skiing and stuff. What can you recommend me??

PMPNX5 01-04-2008, 03:26 PM Are you looking for a city or someplace where you can escape the city life, but it's not too far away in case of withdrawals?
NHskibm 01-04-2008, 03:36 PM Boston is obviously on the coast.
Portsmouth is a FUN town
North Conway for skiing and pubs.
bigbird 01-04-2008, 03:46 PM Ditto on Portsmouth. And Boston is a direct 45 min shot South on 95.
NYCMPOWER 01-04-2008, 03:49 PM Ok...ive been to portsmouth for Bavarian Auto Show and Shine.....where do i stay in Portsmouth? Any other suggestions?? I dont want to be away from everything, but dont want a city like Boston either. I want a nice town, with lots of pubs and a young type of crowd. Keep in mind im going up there with a female.
A4Driver 01-04-2008, 04:03 PM If you are looking to come and stay in Portsmouth, there are a few places to stay downtown, yet probably a little on the expensive side.
Sheraton Harborside (http://www.sheratonportsmouth.com/)
Hilton Garden Inn (http://hiltongardeninn.hilton.com/en/gi/hotels/index.jhtml;jsessionid=PRTGRYHXMRCJUCSGBJBNEWQ?cty hocn=MHTPDGI)
Or you could stay about a mile from down town..
Marriott Courtyard (http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/psmcy-courtyard-portsmouth/)
It is a very nice town to visit and live! There are many things to do around Portsmouth too. It is a quite little city with a lot to offer. Both Portland and Boston are around 45 minutes in each direction. Plus you have Skiing and lodging about an hour up in Noth Conway.

This is true...but it is a good 2 miles from downtown, so there is no way to walk from there to downtown, especially in February.
Check it out..

StealthBM 01-04-2008, 04:53 PM I suggest North Conway near the White Mountains/Mt. Washington. Great getaway for a couple. Close to all the outlets shopping and ski resorts. There are places right in town to stay and short walk around downtown area. ;)

-ursa- 01-04-2008, 05:30 PM Just stay at Wentworth by the Sea and have Brandon (A4Driver) be the DD. Thats what I did last year. :)
pbonsalb 01-05-2008, 09:29 AM Consider staying in a bed and breakfast. I stayed in one in Portsmouth -- walking distance to downtown a few years ago. I think it was on Islington Street.
NYCMPOWER 01-07-2008, 10:28 PM thanks for all the advice....it looks like Portsmouth it is, just have to choose where to stay.
A4Driver 01-08-2008, 12:38 PM Sheraton Harborside (http://www.sheratonportsmouth.com/)
I stayed there this past weekend for for my Company Holiday Party. What a nice place! I took a few pics, but for some reason they all got trashed except for one looking out the window of my room. Nice and quite place..great for walking around town. I think my room was only $130.00 a night..it had a King size bed, desk, 2 chairs with a great view. The resturant there is fantastic too..the food great. My girlfriend worked there last summer too, so I've been there a few times.
Once I get home I'll upload the pic for you. But this place was nice.
