has anyone tried plugging in an xm reciever to the aux/sirius ai-net port on the oem cd decks w/ sirius capability?
i know the aftermarket alpine decks will play either and since these decks are alpine decks i'm wondering if they are actually compatible with either.
thanks,
ben

We offer a plug and play XM tuner that will work with any oem head-unit with the i-bus system which you 2000 528i should have. It will allow you to change channels through your head-unit and steering wheel controls. It will not display text information but it will display the channel number on your factory head-unit display. It's a very easy installation as all the connections are made in the trunk and you are able to keep you cd-changer with this also. Here's a direct link to the XM Connnect for your car on our website if you would like to learn more about it.

I hope this helps and if you have any other questions feel free to contact me.

Ben,
ai-net is not present in a BMW-environment, it's using ibus instead. Which year/model BMW in your signature are you referring to?

thanks guys... i ended up talking to jpwheeler (peter) via im after posting this and he informed me that we don't have the ai-net connections. i guess i just assumed that that's what we had for the aux in and cd changer connections given that alpine makes the decks. guess bmw had to go proprietary. of course! :p
isn't there a blitzsafe adapter that allows you to use alpine cd changers w/ the oem interconnects? does this convert the oem ibus to an ai-net connection? if so, couldn't i theoretically use that with an ai-net capable xm receiver?
paul - i somehow completely missed your xm unit! i already have a terk xm unit for alpine decks that i was hoping i could use, but if that doesn't work out i'll likely buy your pioneer unit. i am addicted to opie and anthony on xm...they are shock jocks out of new york.
tom - this is for my '00 e39, however i'm going to swap the business cassette for the newer cd players w/ the aux-in. i may swing for an .mp3-capable one, but maybe not. undecided. either way, i think i'm going to need one of your adapter cables. a sniper outbid me at the last second on that ebay combo i had posted about a few weeks back. :/

Even if you could get the XM to work through a series of adapters, the text display would likely not work. We have an XM Direct kit when you upgrade to a 2003+ model radio:

tom - your unit looks suspiciously like my terk unit. any chance you sell whatever wiring conversion you've come up with separately?

It uses the XMD-1000 Terk/Audiovox module. If you have this piece, we can get you the Blitzsafe module separately.
Shoot me a PM if you need one.
