I just go an Alpine cda9887 headunit for my car and was hoping to run xm radio through it. I bought audiovox's protocol interface adapter (cnp2000uc)and interface cable and everything needed to run it. Apparently you're supposed to program the adapter to work with the headunit via your computer. When I connect the adapter to a computer (I tried three different computers) the computer does not recognize that anything was pluged into it. Has anyone had any experience with this before. I tried customer service and they were no help at all.
Thanks, Kevin
EDIT:
Okay, I need more help. I sent the unit back, got a new one and was able to download the software onto it this time, now I have a new problem on my hands.
-Problem- I hooked up everything, and it works fine when the car is on accessory mode (engine off). The sound is chrysal clear (CD's, radio, and xm), everything is how I want it. However, When the engine is turned on there is a terrible whine noise coming through my speakers (CD's, radio, and xm). I tried figuring out the problem, and I traced it to the power leads from the xm unit. As soon as I unconnect the leads, the noise goes away, and CD's and the radio are clear again.
First spliced into the cig. lighter, then spliced into the headunit power. Am I connecting to the wrong wires? Or is the Audiovox a true POS?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Kevin
