Anyone know of any job openings, i just received my bachelors in marketing from UCO, and have 6 months management experience and 2 years of sales experience.

needing a change of pace from my current job, would like to make at least 35k a year (my current salary) but would be willing to take less if the benefits were right

Go work for one of the local aerospace companies....they must be paying pretty good since I have to pay them huge profits for the crap I put on contract with them.

If you don't want to do Marketing, go work at Tinker, starts at 35K and will be double with $10k raises for the 1st two years...plus awesome benefits. It's not for everyone though....

You can do just about anything out at Tinker...it's like a small city so it's got everything. Most all the jobs out there for degreed people start at 35k and then you get about a 10k a year raise for the 1st two years, and then promotions are pretty easy to come buy. I started at like $25k 8 years ago and make more than 3x that amount now. Logistics is the main focus where much of the jobs are, but there are HR jobs, PR jobs, procurement, technical jobs.....the list goes on and on. I believe the personnel office is still just outside the main gate off douglas blvd.

hmmm, do you know any of the people that make any of the hiring decisions or have influence on those that do?

may point me in the right direction getting a leg up on the competition?

*edit*

i found the usajobs website, but i can't make head or tales of what a lot of the acronyms they use mean, or even if i qualify for the position...

Do they have a risk management type department? Sound like you have a similar income to mine but I've been at it 16 yrs. with current employer (insurance/ training industry) but getting burned out and tired of the travel. Change of pace would be good if they pay more for experience.

Usajobs is definitely the starting point....you just have to read carefully. I'll see if I can find someone in HR.

Tinker rarely hires off the street at an advanced level/pay....they almost always start everyone on the same internship type positions.

in my limited experience, the risk management jobs have been on the contractor side with aerospace companies such as Boeing, Northrop G, Raytheon, etc. as a govt engineer i look to my contractor counterparts to help fill in the 'risk management/analysis' voids on some of my projects. not to say that there arent any federal jobs that do not do risk management.

terry, from what i know, a lot of those USAJobs listings are full of information that may or may not pertain to the actual job you are doing. you just have to ask yourself, can i fullfill the main objectives. like my position is an Aerospace Engineering position but my background is in Electrical Engineering but my actual work consists of program management, electrical/computer engineering, mechanical engineering, as well as heavily in systems engineering. it just whatever the MAN wants you to be.

gotcha. now, their experience requirements, how flexible are those? or does it just depends on the job?

hell, i would take less than what i make now for a gov't job because i know they are relatively secure, and have awesome benefits

There shouldn't be experience requirements unless you're looking at the wrong postings....you need to be looking at the GS07 positions....if it says GS07 and it says degree required....that's the one you want because it's likely an intership position with auto promotions.

i think a good program for you would be the Palace Aquire program. In this "Internship" you work for 3 years until you are considered permanent. Like Greg said, you start off as a GS-07 and each year you will get about a $10,000 pay raise. During your tenure, you will rotate jobs about every 6 months so that you gain experience in several fields. You will get experience in program management, item management, some technical stuff, contracting, etc. After 3 years you will get to request the place you most liked to be your permanent work place. Its a good deal and they will pay for most of, if not all, of your Master's Degree. Google: Palace Aquire. I will try and dig up some more info for you when I am at work since the website seems to need you to be logged on with a good certificate to view it.
