I,m a new BMW owner (2004 525i) and received a warning icon/message yesterday. I didn't have my glasses on so I could not read the description of the error on the idrive screen. The icon showed the car tilting to one side with an exclamation point above the car. I was able to read a few words, something like... low fluid level steering error...fluid suspension. I didn't see the icon in the manual so I couldn't read about the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

check the power steering fluid level, top it off with CHF-11s fluid, or ATF dex 3 depending on what it says on the cap., this fluid can be found at the dealer. if the fluid is green use chf-11s.

Thanks the reservoir was low on fluid. Is that the reservoir for the brakes, steering and suspension or just brakes?

the fluid is used for a number of different systems on your vehicle. If you have active steering, there is a tandom pump on the power steering pump, if you have dynamic drive(active sway bars) this fluid is also used for that system, and even if your vehicle is just a base model with just power steering. The brake fluid resivor is located underneath the panels on the drivers microfilter box.
