View Full Version : I need a 320i Bad!!!
Euro320iRacer 12-31-2007, 05:42 PM Man my current 320i is a major rust bucket it would cost over 3k on the body alone to get into perfect condition. The other one I have its a parts car, but its an auto/wrecked. I love the feel of the 320i. I have a 325is, it doesnt feel the same as a 320i. Does anyone know an local e21s near Georgia?
cheechthechi 12-31-2007, 07:02 PM Some stuff I found in craigslist....

Whereabout in GA are you?
* Edit
Oh I just saw that you are in Marietta. How far is that from Atlanta/ Tech?
Einundzwanzig 12-31-2007, 09:17 PM Marietta is directly north of Atlanta, about 20 minutes (in good traffic) from GT. I go to school at GT and I'm from Marietta.
As for local E21s, I don't know of any except my own. I'm not currently looking to sell it but if you make me a good offer I wouldn't be able to refuse... haha.

Ive seen couple of them on craigs, but they need a lot of work. I need basically a nice running e21, with no or little rust.

If you show me some pics, and give me a ball park. I may pick it up.

Oh cool! Do you have a blue colored e21, because I may have seen it before.
Einundzwanzig 01-01-2008, 04:18 AM Naw, mine is black. I just picked it up about a month and a half ago, and I haven't driven it since I got it home since the clutch is pretty much shot. I have a new one waiting to be installed... hopefully I'll get around to that later this week/weekend.
Other issues:
-Just a bit of rust on the hood
-A bit of rust on the under side. It didn't look to bad to me, but I haven't had a chance to get under there and really look at it.
-Cold start valve isn't working... I need to check that out over the next couple days.
-Steering wheel is turned probably about 20 degrees to the left when the car goes straight. I'm not sure if you'd need a new steering column or just an alignment... maybe someone else can answer that question?
-Door/Window seals are starting to come off. The car doesn't leak though, thanks to the above window trim.
-Turn signals aren't working. Haven't really looked into this one yet, since I haven't been driving it.
I think that's all that's wrong with it. It's a '79 320i with a 4-speed manual. Standard seats. I really just picked it up as my first project car to work on little by little as I had the time, and, like I said, I'm not really looking to get rid of it, so you'd have to make a pretty generous offer for me to let go of it.
Here's a link to the thread where I have pictures of my car.

You can just pop the steering wheel off and put it back any which way you want it.

Nice car. What year and major are you?
Einundzwanzig 01-02-2008, 04:17 AM Nice car. What year and major are you?
I'm a second year ME. I actually just finished my first co-op rotation. I worked with Toyota Manufacturing at the Huntsville, AL engine plant. They make the 5.7 V8s, 4.7 V8s and assemble (but do not machine) a 4.0 V6. All of these are truck engines. If you car to look it up, the 5.7 is a 3UR, the 4.7 is a 2UZ and the 4.0 is a 1GR. You can find more information for each engine on Wikipedia. Just search for "Toyota UR engine" or substitute UZ or GR.
myersport 01-02-2008, 10:10 AM To get the thread back on track, I know a superb e21 with a 2.7 stroker and an Alpina suspension. It's in exceptional condition, actually placing in the '05 Peachtree concours. The car is currently in DC, but it will most definately make the drive back to Ga. The price is $5800, which is a bit higher than most would pay for an e21, but most e21's aren't this nice/cool. It used to me my own car, but the current owner has come into health issues and isn't able to drive it much. Been in DC for 2 years, but had been a local Knoxville car since new, myself being the 2nd owner. See my sig for a thumbnail. It's the one on the right. PM me for the exact info, pics, and dyno results if interested. The car will not dissapoint. I get nothing from this sale, just helping a friend out, and trying to keep the car in an enthusiasts hands.

I know that car and it is very nice and professionally sorted. This is the Beige one with the motronic right? Nice interior too. I may have pics from that event showing the car.

I bet it is nice. Thats really to high of a budget for me. The most I would spend is around 2k.

It's the same car, Bruce. It's a bit nicer, now. Mike added brand new Euro bumpers to it, and fixed the minor rust in the trunk floor. It passes smog in Va, so it should be legal in most states. It's running a chipped Motronic 1.3 from a '90 325i.

I thought it might, as I can't justify buying it back myself. I would really like to have it back, but too many other things are screaming for money around the house. The wife says to keep my iS, and spend the money remodeling. That said, the car is available, so if anyone here knows somebody who knows somebody, let me know, and I'll let Mike know, and there will be alot of happy people.

BruceH 01-02-2008, 03:10 PM Someone needs to grab this car. You are buying a turn key, no work to be done 323. Does it have a/c? If it does I am going to pass the info on to someone who is a potential buyer.

Bruce-
At the time I sold it, I had the ac working as good as any e21 could hope. It had a brand new BMW blower installed, and new hoses, drier and expansion valve. The weak link would be the compressor, which came off a high mileage '86 325, but the system was tight and blew cold. The car dyno'd at 142 hp and 175 lb/ft ant the wheels, and got high 20's mpg on the i-state. It was my daily driver and set up to be easy, practical, and alot of fun. Let me know, Bruce!

nowloadingrage 01-02-2008, 05:32 PM I thought the plan was to save up and buy back? You know that car should be in the myersport family.
