I have a 2007 BMW M5 ..., with almost 15,000 miles ... last night something hapened with the gear box I think ... now I have only two speeds ... the 2 and the 4 ...and the reverse is not working ....

The damn beast is still new and surely under warranty. Why don't you take it back to the dealer?????

smg? hopefully this isnt going to be a troublesome fix for you, does it look like a mechanical or computer issue? warranty should cover it, looks like your gonna get to know a loaner car really well.

might be something like audi safe mode, when the computer senses something it gives you only two gears sans safe mode

but I dont know much about the SMG

Totally sounds like a computer activated safe mode...There would be no reason that first and 3rd wouldn't work. Car can be run and brought to the dealer in 2nd and 4th. That's where I would bring it.

that is the wierdist thing i would be pissed, that car is alot of $$$ hope the warrenty covers it let us know , i really want to buy one so if they fix it that would be cool, i went to the dealership the other day and i saw a alpina B7 with my own eyes it was the first time ever seeing it in person, the guy who owned it apperently blew the supercharger in it and they replaced it in a heart beat they think he was to hard on it, It also could have been a factory defect anyway of the subject but also really wierd.

Take it to a dealer, if they won't fix it, take it to another dealer ... if you can't find anyone to look at it, go to the higher ups at corporate. That's completely unacceptable for a car that "young."

'07 w/ only 15k... +1 dealer. Should be under warranty unless it was driver error that trashed the tranny.
