I was driving around in the 323i and got myself thinking about what people hate/love about there cars. Specifically the people who put so much into them. you know who you are.
You MUST say 3 things for hate and love, i guess i will start...

LOVE:
Most solid car ive ever driven
out performs most cars on the road
very dependable ( knock on wood)

HATE:
The color ( its growing on me)
The bits of rust
The fact i have to smog it every two years:devillook

LOVE:
It reminds me of driving a Go-Kart

Body Rolls like buggery but somehow traction remains intact?!

Best built car I know of that my family has ever had

Hate:
I can only beat the "Sports car drivers" down the mountain road, not up it

It scares the hell outta me in fresh rain. One second we're driving, the next the tails out at 50°

Scarcity of parts for 4cyl E21's in Australia.

:) The E21 Movement is on...

haha yes reminds me of driving a large go-kart
how sick it sounds when built for a 4cyl with dynomax bullets
the stares after a fast autox run

-the little things are getting too old, electrical wire harness, ignition key switch etc
-blank looks from other bmw owners trying to figure out what car it is
-driving it in the rain is scary lol

Love:
- That this car is hotter than my girlfriend (who is pretty damn attractive, if i do say so myself)
- Small + Light = Traffic Weave!
- I-4 fuel economy, without the Civic trash sound

Hate:
- K-Jet
- Expensive Parts
- Little things (or big things) always break

Love:
1. How raw the car is. It's just the road, the car and me. No ABS, no Power Steering, nothing to get in between me and the road feel.
2. The classic BMW styling, which has so much more character than the later 3 Series cars (e36 and e46 are just so blah).
3. The fact that with what little I had put into the car (and all that I had removed) I was running circles around newer BMW's at the local CCA autoX events that had thousands of dollars in mods into them AFTER purchase price. ....and I was still leaning like a mo-fo.

Hate:
1. The lack of weight in the front (well, the rear too I guess) has actually lifted the car, since I'm still on stock suspension. And that doesn't help the leaning issues. (Coil-overs will fix this. :D )
2. The trunk lock only like ONE of the keys I have for the car, not the other. WTF!?!?
3. Every time I take it to the autoX, something else breaks. ...or maybe that's MY fault, not the car's....NAH!!!!

No. Hell no. She's long gone. The girl i'm dating right now, however, is an ass, i'll probably break up with her soon.

The perfect balance between economy and sports car feel.
Any part I need is sitting at the pick and pull right now if I need it, dirt cheap to own and fix
Excellent performance potential.
If I wreck it, I can pick up another for a grand.
I hardly ever see anybody else driving them, which proves I'm smarter than most people.;):D

I don't hate anything, these cars rule.

Still enjoy the road feel - driven for 25+ years now.
Rare - Don't see too many e21's around - new BMW drivers stop to ask about the car
Body - Box "old school" classic lines.

Hate
Resale value, upgrade parts are worth more than the car as a whole
Power of the line
Smog Test every 2 years.

I'll do 2 of these, because I've owned a couple 320i's, and now have a 323i. Completely different cars, IMO.

320i

Love;
-Tossability in corners
-Cheap and easy to fix(then again, so is my E32)
-More refined than my 2002's, but still very vintage feel

Hate;
-Ugliass bumpers
-Way underpowered
-Ugliass US license plate holder on the back

When I had my 320i's, I always yearned for more power, and nice bumpers. Basically, I wanted a 323i:)

323i

Love;
-Solves all the things I hated about my 320i
-Beautiful, shiny new Zinnoberrot paint
-Sexy dual exhaust
-4 wheel discs
-Right hand drive is rather cool to have in North America
-Sexy BBS wheels
-Dog leg 5 speed
-Oh wait, that was more than 3!

Hate;

-I've never driven my 323
-Its still not finished, after 2.5 years in construction
-I don't have the time to complete it

I'll leave out the 320i since mine is rusted to hell....

323i Baur
Love:
1. It's an eye catcher, and being the only one in the state everyone knows the car...
2. lots of power, more torque and easy to fix as long as I have friends that are willing to help me keep it running...
3. Fun to hear at an auto-x "damn you showed up this week", I'll never get tired of WRX guys grumbling that a 27 year old BMW showed up to beat them.

Hate:
hmm...
1. my intierior is falling apart
2. my LSD is Fried
3. no power steering makes for a workout in auto-x
4. replacement Baur specific parts are pricey if you can find them...
