View Full Version : How often are you involved in a "race?"

I don't know about you guys, but recently it seems that no one wants to race me. I come across cars that could easily give my car a run for its money, but they are always on the phone or something and do not want to enjoy their cars? What is with these drivers?

It seems that if I do find someone to race, it happens once every month and lasts for a few seconds of acceleration usually in 2nd or 3rd gear.

Frustrated,

Maybe once every two weeks... but I usually have to provoke the driver.

everytime there's a ricer around, there's always someone to play :D i usually dont' really race the ricers...i'll pace them in 2nd then blow them away in 3rd, adn slow down again.....its not really worth the gas :P

Sometimes frequently... sometimes there are just 'dry' spells.

it's mostly not a "race" but people that want to cut me off if traffic, or don't want me to pass them. Very rarely do I get to a light and some guy really wants to race. This is OK with me. I don't want to street race. It's like forrest gump...you never know what kind of idiot or bad driver you are going to get.

p.s. in my Saleen, it's very different. There are a ton of mustangs and Fbody's that want to race. That's one reason I don't drive it more than 1 or 2 days a week (and the reason I'll probably sell it soon).

What Saleen do you have? S289, S351? Supercharged? Just curious.

I rarely get anyone to race. Most people that live in my community have nice cars but don't have a clue how to drive them. Most teenagers or people I would race have mustangs, camaros, etc.. I can take the autos and usually the manuals depeding on how good the driver is.

to be honest

I have only had people rev on me like 5 times total since driving...

my last car was a firebird also...

I had to drive my brothers roadster a few months... no one tried then

and like 2-3 times someone has tried to race me in the bimmer

I dont really go for racing people on the streets... not really safe... cops.. and dumb drivers

yeah, honestly I havent had any 'real' races. Ive had a couple of kids that I guess just wanted to see what I could do (in civics, altimas...etc).....I didnt disappoint them :) . One Altima was pretty funny, I heard this kinda screaming, and I look over and the drivers girlfriend is acting up, and I just look at them strangely, and the light turns green and sure enough he bolts out, so I take off easy then redline 1st and 2nd (no traffic around) and of course :) pass them and give a little show. But I usually dont try and race much....fear of cops, pedestrians, children, stupid drivers....

I was behind a Boxster S once and he gunned it, and it was about even....it was in decent traffic so I didnt push it much.....

Hey RS, were you driving northbound on 5 last night around 8:30? Saw a techno M3 on my way home from the airport last night, and there can't be too many of them in the Seattle area.

actually in the 3 yrs that i've had my car, i've never had a race from a light. i had a chance once against a camaro SS, and i thought he was gonna go but he didn't. it looked new, so i guess he was waiting to break it in. i gotta make sure to find him again some day :p .

if anything, things are high speed accels on the highway (i don't like to go much past 100 tho. i don't trust others going that fast) the other day i was speeding around with this red corvette (the last model where it looks flat all the way from front to back) and he started to gun it. so i did the same when i was following him... he couldn't pull on me. if anything i was creeping up on him. he was with his girl and shut down rite at 100 and switched lanes so i blew by him. i tried to slow down and wave but traffic got him caught up. anyone know how much hp those things have?

i know what you mean about going over 100....for me more or less its fear of cops =( getting my car impounded and my license suspended isn't my idea of fun! :(

Whenever you're anywhere that there are young people with money, it happens. Anytime I drive through wealthy suburbs in northern NJ, Long Island, or Westchester, teenagers in modded cars mess with me on highways. In and around Manhattan, only taxis race you at lights because they want to get in front of garbage trucks, etc.

Since I got my rims and exhaust, kids are all over me, checking out my car, driving in my blindspot, revving at stops. It's really annoying. But I'm not surprised that Ben FR doesn't get challenges -- most people typically don't mess with cars they don't think they can handle. I'd never try to outrun an M Coupe.
