I stumbled across this on Kijiji:http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-over-5K-1978-BMW-323ci-Euro-Edition-W0QQAdIdZ30129527

Is this a Baur package or weird grey market car? Seems a bit on the pricey side but it is a 323i.

It's a Baur. The 'c' in the model name is incorrect. Looks like it has alfa romeo GTV-6 seats.

I think the guy is thinking ci as in cubic inches. Ha Ha. Looks like the tach has been swapped out for a white face too.

Nah, ci as in e46 Vert. Gotta love people that have no CLUE!

I wish it was a little closer so I could get a proper look.

Many people in the BMW world, including dealers list convertibles with a c in the model designator like a 325ci even when it's an older e30. They also include an "a" for automatic so an e30 325is convertible with an automatic would be listed as a 325cais??? Alphabet soup but very common.

actually the original BMW door frame sticker does include those letters - i had a E39 540i wagon (touring) with automatic transmission and the sticker said 540iAT... although the trunk badge said just 540i. people commonly list them for sale as 540iT to differentiate the touring from the sedan. My E32 had 735iA on the sticker.

still sounds stupid for an E21 though :)

Ugly and the top isn't correct. Silver trim in the B panels is wrong. Fuzzy dice? All fixable tho.

Actually all BMWs that I know of have the 'A' on the door jamb sticker. It doesn't have a thing to do with the transmission.

I was going to point out the same things BruceH did...With the Targa panel wrong I'd check the soft top too and make sure it isn't wrong as well....I've seen some with wrong replacement windows and so on...

And the silver in the B pillar = Yuck

THe Baur is actually an aftermarket convertion authorized and supported by BMW (like Alpina) so it wouldn't get any different door stickers are designations other than the Baur number tag in the engine bay and the Baur name stamped on the B pillars.
