Seems like it'll quit for awhile when I jiggle the lever. Anybody know what to look at first? It's a little distracting when you're doing 95 in the rain. :D

View Full Version : E-brake light flickering 32047 12-29-2007, 09:06 PM Seems like it'll quit for awhile when I jiggle the lever. Anybody know what to look at first? Pull the back of the boot up that covers the brake handle; there you will find the e-brake switch (1 wire). As I remember, the switch grounds lighting up the light on the dash, just like the door switch. To adjust it: there should be a securing nut that can reposition the switch, a little trial and error until you get it perfect (with the ignition "on"). I had the same problem on my e30; I haven't had to deal with it on the e21. I hope this helps, good luck. 32047 12-30-2007, 12:30 AM Your description makes sense. I will check it out. much appreciated. AlaskaBimmer 01-01-2008, 02:33 AM Double check your Brake fluid just to be safe as this light also flickers when your brake fluid is low.... 32047 01-07-2008, 08:28 PM Wanted to give a big thanks to AlaskaBimmer. I need a dope slap. Checked the fluid and it was low. Seems like the car is actually idling better now to. Due to the well known vacuum dependence of the motor no doubt. Thanks again. e21bimmer320i 01-07-2008, 11:17 PM i tried all these tips and my ebrake and "fasten your seat belts" sign still flash at random times. i unclipped the thing on the e-brake so the light would go off but that didn't correct the problem. i put the clip back on tho... 320ipyro 01-07-2008, 11:19 PM on mine it used to turn on when i hit the brake e21bimmer320i 01-08-2008, 03:20 PM on mine it used to turn on when i hit the brake haha LOL |
