Hey guys. I haven't been around in awhile. School has taken over and there is no need for the 5er anymore :(

Anyway...

My car: '94 540iA, 138xxx miles, new brakes, relatively new tires, Eibach Pro-kit, clears, EAT chip...other mods...Car is in "good" shape (7/10).

The car's first owner drove it into high water; the motor "hydro-locked" (is this terminology correct?). The Nikasil block motor was replaced with Alusil block motor, and I believe much of the interior was replaced, too. This occurred when the car had under 10k miles on it. The car was deemed a "salvage title." I am wondering how much this "salvage title" should affect the resale value now. If the blue book value for a similar non-salvage car is a little over $6,000, what is a fair price for my car?

Thanks guys.

EDIT:
I think the correct term is actually "rebuilt" and not "salvage," considering the problems have been fixed.

it's still worth considerably less than a clean title. The e39 in my signature was bought with a salvage title and fixed, now has rebuilt title. I had the car appraised so I could get full coverage and it's worth about 7500 on paper, where a similar car would easily cost you 10-15k.

Yup, a salvage title kills the value. The car you have, in good shape, is a $3,500 to $4,000 car at best with a salvage title. If it's a good reliable transportation vehicle for you, it makes more sense to keep it and enjoy.

a salvage title car will usually affect its value, a rule of thumb is 1/2 of book far a salvage title
