The dealers have told me i have lifetime oil in my diff and transmission.
I have 20 litres of the special esso oil for the transmission however i am unsure which is the best oil for my differential. I need the best stuff or the original, is there any info on this!
Thanks

Look in the Reference, Original oils are OK! I have LSD Diffs so it's Royal Purple with additives for me, You should be Ok with Redline or original proper weight oils. I will look for the Diff pdf.

840's in the US don't come with LSD's! Someone had to ad it, Check and be sure it's a LSD before adding the oil, LSD and Non LSD are totally different! They all are assumed to have lifetime tranny/diff oil...

a numbers on it with a grear ratio. If there is an S infront of it, then Limites slip if not then it is an open diff.
in any case the redline diff oil for LSD will work oke. You can use the limited slip oil for an open but not vice versa.
Redline has cured my LSD 3.15's noise. BMW transmission oil requirements is stamped on the bottom of the transmission. check it first as they used 2-3 different types and of course they are NOT interchangable.
some needs Shell some needs Esso...

I have a Dinan LSD differential in my 96 840ci. Talked to the Dinan rep and he said they use synthetic LSD 75/95 oil in their race cars. I asked about Redline synthetic LSD and he said that was fine.
