I might be interested in the simmons wheels if they're a good offset. Have you got any other pics of the wheels? On an e21?

Dunno the offset, and no, no pics of them on the car.
I'll check the offset tomorow, but they're meant to fit an E21 without spacers...

heres another question hadrian, are they just the stock 323i sways? or are they heavy duty ones.

Hadrian

Just normal ones I'm pretty sure... they were advertised as Whiteline when I bought them, but I don't think they are, have to double check.

I never had them in my car so can't say if the condition is good but if you want to come and see them thats fine.

Not sure how old they are either, sorry.

I'm selling all my E21 stuff and my E21 'coz I can't afford to have a car right now, I will get another E231 one day...

Hmm that's strange, I think I fucked something up.

It's 120mm from muonting surface of the wheel to the inside of the wheel.

Sounds about right. You take the centre line widths of 95 and 83mm from the 120mm backspace and get the offset of 25 and 37 don't you?

I'm not sure these are the wheels for me. I don't like the idea of flaring the fenders for that 7.5" wheel with spacers. Bummer.

Hadrian

Spacers?

Dr. Z
01-09-2008, 06:16 PM
Thats just it for me too. I assume they effectively create a mounting plate on top of the original to get the wheels to fit.

The reason I don't want to do it is because all that extra width (in the wheels and the spacers) will probably give me a tyre that will rub on my rear fender.

They fit without spacers.

"The stock wheel size is 13 x 5.5 et18, lug pattern 4x100, center bore 57.1mm, 185/70R13 tires. The most common upgrade wheel size is a 15x7 et12-15 with 205/50r15 tires. I’ve heard of 18mm offsets fitting on some wheels. On a 15” wheel a larger offset will not work because the inside lip of the wheel hits the tie rod ball joint. 16” and 17” wheels with higher offsets will fit because the diameter is large enough to clear the tie rods, but try to keep the offset as close to stock as possible.

Honda wheels and the like will fit with spacers, but keep them hub centric and try keep your offset at 15mm. For example, a 16x7 et40 wheel will require a 25mm spacer to fit. Also, a good idea with spacers is to upgrade to lug studs. You can buy them from BMP"

This is from jrcook's post on wheels in the FAQ thread.

a high-offset wheel on an e21 can hit the strut/shock and/or other suspension components.

This is from todor on another thread.

There just seems like there's a lot of opinion going around that wheels of this high an offset wont fit without spacers. I'm just not game enough to go for these Hadrian.

Dr. Z,

These were my old wheels and I sold them to Hadrian. They are the correct offset and fit without spacers. The brand is Performance and they have Kelly Ritmo tyres with lots of tread.

That could be a good trade off. They look really good on your car. How much work is it to repaint a wheel?

My bad also.... just re-read and saw that you were referring to the Simmons!

The Performance wheels are great. Light and 14x6

Hadrian

Yeah they're lighter than the steel wheels despite the size. Maybe lighter than the stock alloys too.
