I have an s52 that needed the smog pump and check return valve replaced.

I replaced the pump and valve. I am still getting a fd (EVAP VALVE STUCK CLOSED) code.

Could this be related to something else?

Thanks-

Update: 12/29/07
I snuck into the back of Savage BMW. (seriously) Popped my hood, and just started asking a tech. in the garage some questions. I told him I replaced the valve with a working one from another car along with and hoses to the valve. He reluctantly told me a few tidbits: He said the valves are touchy and when they get carbon buildup the die, and fast! He also said I "have to diagnose the system" He said there was another electronic valve and a bunch of vacuum hoses under the manifold.

Wouldn't this throw another code? (he didnt answer that for me. :shifty)

I dont want to remove the manifold to get to this and find out everything is fine...some advise would help.

on another note: There was a sweet e39///m5, e36///m3 cab, and a 635csi

Go to an Autozone store and have your car scanned for free with an OBD 2 scanner. Then post the results.
And what previous faults were there that made you replace the DMTL/DLP and the tank vent valve ?

I have a Peake r/5

I scanned it and pulled a code fd.

fd- EVAP SHUTOFF VALVE STUCK CLOSED

I was having this problem ( CEL was on. It showed codes fd, f5, f6)

f5- cyl 1-3 evap system flow too low
f6 - cyl 4-6 evap flow too low

so I replaced the whole smog system!

Now I still get code fd...?

anyone know what vacuum hoses are needed when replacing the check valve system?

Anyone know how to test if a check valve is working?

The fault code you have and the Secondary Air System are not at all related. That fault code is for a problem in the evaporative control system for the fuel tank. See the Bentley manual for the components of the evaporative control system.

I have been so busy with the sec. air pump...+ I was getting the codes simultaneously...

but...The fault code you have and the Secondary Air System are not at all related. That fault code is for a problem in the evaporative control system for the fuel tank. See the Bentley manual for the components of the evaporative control system.
...I think YOUR RIGHT

Thanks

So...without my bentley around and me not going home for another week...can someone enlighten me on what the dealer might refer to this valve as... and where it is located?
