I'm considering putting the S54 head on an M54 3.0. Has anyone done this, heard of this, or know if it is possible?

Since they're both dual Vanos it seems like it may work. Let me know what you guys know. Thanks, Vin

Wont work the designs are totally different, as far as them both using dual vanos you are correct but the vanos control units operate differently. Oil galleys and cooling jackets do not match, chain setup is different, piston to valve clearance and pocket matching is different, of course you can make anything work for a short time, but how much money and time do you have to waste?? I did try a S54 head on a Euro S50B32 bottom end, just because the S54 timing is so much easier to set, but it blew the head gasket out during warmup on the dyno.

Yeah, I figured it was much more complicated than I originally thought.

I have an S54 head laying around so I was trying to think of a way to use it.
