I recorded a couple of races, and I also watched the Bathurst race. I love this series.

I watched the same race twice it was so good.

I like the design of Australian tracks.

I wish we had something like the V-8 here in the states.

I just sold my 06' GTO which technically is a Holden Monaro. I have been a huge fan of the series for many years and still very exciting to watch. Love Bathrust, I hope to be there some day.

My new ride is a 99 M3 which I love to death. :D

Hope to see more of the aussie series on Speed!!!

V8 Supercars is pretty much the Australian counterpart to our NASCAR. Except much, much better.

We "HAD" Trans Am and it was squashed by the SCCA. Almost looks like Grand Am is evolving in that direction in one of there classes.
But right now if you want V8s then its all in SCCA GT1 or American Sedan. Or NASA American Iron. The later two are a bit of a YAwwwwN compared to GT1.

The issue I have with the Aussi series is that the cars are a bit cookie cutter, though the racing is fierce and as stated the tracks are sweet. Some great drivers there.

Cool to see you guys talking about our "humble" race series. They can be compared to NASCAR, same sort of crowd (we call them bogans here!).

Unfortunately the only "spectator" road racing we have here is NASCAR. Kudos to them and as long as they keep the Grand Am series alive, I will back them.
SCCA has seen it that they are NOT interested in spectators. Rather then the competition getting better in SCCA, it's gettin worse. Out with the true race cars and in with the Miata's. Who really wants to watch 80 Mazda's pfffzzzzzing around a track when they could be watching 30-40 trans am style cars ROOORRRing around a track.

+10 I record every V-8 Supercar race and DTM race that I can. I picked up the SCCA runoffs, the GT classes are the only ones worth watching. I would watch a re-run of a V-8 race over an SCCA race anyday. I had high hopes for the Hankook touring car series but I guess it never really took hold out here. I would have built a car for that ...

A series I really like is the Koni Challenge. I went to the 6 hour enduro at VIR this past year and it was really awesome. If they had it in a sprint format with even tighter racing, it would be the best road racing in the U.S. IMO.

The Koni series is fun to watch.. BMW's do well in that series too. I am watching my recording of the Queensland race... SWEET...

I'm so pissed at my DVR. It recorded the Bathurst race, I watched about 15min of it, hit stop and ran some errands, came back to watch the race and it was't on my DVR anymore:mad That is the one race I was waiting for all season to watch.

I am 100% with you, it doesn't get much better than the ground pounders.
V8 Supercars are awesome, South Africa has/had a crazy V8 series, mostly trans-am, DTM cars, just wicked stuff, rules were very open compared to T/A, the cars were super fast.

Speed never reruns any of the good racing. They will replay NASCAR practice 8 times but you better hope you catch the road racing that was on in the middle of the day durring the week cause they won't play it again.

Talk about . . .

I live for the whole year to watch Aussies tear it up (Speed TV's wacky programming schedule).

I'm going to get to Australia one of these days . . . :devillook

Someone should sponsor a bf.c trip during V8 Supercar season.. . . hehe

I think this is the best professional production road racing series on the planet. Bathurst is a fantastic track that produces the widest racing - the last race was great. Watched it twice.

Funny how the NASCAR COT actually looks like a AV8SC now - though no mechicanical resemblence (other than the pushrod V8).

Love the sound and I love the fact they are cars that have to be driven, not point and shot.

Great stuff.

Bathurst powns all....

Running down the mountain at 300kph and getting loose in the dirt, and RECOVERING IT...

EDIT: Word to all: If I am ever in a coma, play this race in front of me for 24hrs. I'll come out of it for sure... :)

I saw that race on a whim. I hadn't watched Speed in forever because I quite frankly got sick of Barret Jackson. I hadn't seen an Aussie V8 race in two years and forgot how awesome the cars are and how competitve the drivers get. That last "quarter" pass where he was practially shoving him out of the way took balls, and keeping his car from spinning while some dude is riding his quarter panel is tough.

Now one series I really want to see is German DTM. Does anyone know a way to get those races?

Yeah, my tivo's been working OT lately getting all the DTM and Aussie V8 stuff. Got a chance to view Bathurst on Saturday. Crazy!
