I've got a 94 318ic that is having a problem with the hot and cold mixing flap. The heater will be working fine and then it will go cold. I can sometimes rotate the switch on the vent above the radio from hot to cold and back, and it will sometimes start back working. Sometimes it will not work for a couple of days and then start back only to act up again. I've taken the panel off to expose the flap motors on the left side of the heater box, one motor is for recirculation, the other for the mixing flap. The motors are the same, so I switched them out and it still acts the same. When you operate the switch the motor just kinda sits there and makes a small clicking noise about 10-15 seconds apart. Sometimes (very few) when you operate the switch the motor operates correctly. I can take the motor out and manually move the flap and it gets nice and toasty. For some reason the motor is rotating the flap back to the cold setting when the switch is still on the hot setting. Anyone had this problem? Not exactly sure if it's the flap motor, switch, or some other electrical problem. According to the wireing diagram in the bentley manual, it has a mixing flap motor, mixing actuator, and a climate regulation control module all linked to this. Thanks for any help.
