After a swap from an auto trans to a 6 speed manual in my '96 OBD ll, E36 Sedan, I went to re-smog(CA resident) and when the shop plugged into the computer, I was told that it could not be smogged while showing fault codes.

Yes, I am showing transmission fault codes, two solenoids inop. I need to know if anyone out there has ran into this situation and can offer a fix so I can get my car smogged. After researching the schmatics, I can jump circuits to show the trans is in neutral, but not sure if that will work.

After installing the Dinan supercharger the auto trans lasted about a week. I was pre warned of this, hence the trans swap.

So, any Guru's out there that can offer suggestions?

'96 E36 Dinan upgrades: Supercharged, Free Flow Exhaust, HFTB, Stage 1 Suspension & Strut Brace.
And just for the fun it:
ZF 6 speed conversion. E46 M3 flywheel, clutch, Custom drive shaft, LSD, M3 wheels, tint, HK sound, Wood grain,
Rear headrests

It sort of seems like you could remove the transmission computer on this car without affecting anything else. If the car behaves normally with it disconnected that should eliminate the fault codes.

I ended up having to get the motor ECU (DME) reflashed with non-auto-tranny software to get rid of the CEL / auto-tranny codes. Was five hours labor at the dealer.
There is someone on the east coast that has the process down pat - check the official E36 auto-manual thread.
