Ok so I got a 2000 540i, six speed, its hella fast man, im stoked. Anyways there seems to be a little problem ive noticed that when im parking, the car is at a low idle it will die sometimes.

If anyone knows what is wrong and or how to fix it or can direct me to a DIY site let me know please. Thanks guys.

i've heard that the vanos seals sometimes go bad... especially on higher mileage cars. i think it's only for the inline 6 engines though, so you're probably safe. it could be the idle control valve going bad.

When my '99 540 started stalling and dying at low speeds, it was a bad MAF.

That could be from any of a number of causes, or a combination of causes. Likely candidates that should be investigated first include an intake leak or bad CCV.
