View Full Version : Xmas Drive/meet Tonight At Ten Pm
n00bjabi 12-24-2007, 06:44 PM Hey all this is Z from BRMSport - 2 days ago me and my friend Nick (he's starting up his own business, a distributor of aftermarket parts in the Pacific Northwest) organized a big drive as a way for people who are interested in supporting our small local company or cars in general to meet each other. This company is in honor of our close friend Mathew Durnwirth, some of you may know him - he was driving home from work late February of 2007 and lost control of his car on a cloverleaf on I90 and flew off the bridge and fell into the thick swampy mud underneath the overpass. He lost his life that night, and a lot of us were all hurt, but he had a dream of one day owning his own shop and we took it upon ourselves to continue his dream, which is why we're doing this.
Anyway, 2 days ago we had our big drive, we had a great turnout, 25 cars and 40 people at 10PM in the Fairwood McDonalds parking lot - we went on a big cruise to Factoria, then Seattle, then Alki, for a bunch of photoshoots. A lot of fast cars showed up, including (and some of the more notable ones) a 10 second K20 EG Hatch, a 450whp gutted turbo Miata, a 10 second WRX wagon, and a few other 11/12 second turbo beasts, but no BMW's. Minh and Sneaky Mike wanted to go but couldn't make it, but I figured, why not have more BMW people show up this time.
This is an open invitation to everyone who has nothing to do tonight and wants to get a chance to go on a spirited drive with a bunch of local car enthusiasts, there will be some twisties, some freeway frolic, a big group photoshoot as usual, and mingling and whatnot. Weather looks decent for tonight, 20% chance of rain - I look forward to seeing more Bimmers out there this time, the Subaru/S2K guys have been getting pretty cocky, so let's roll out the S series engines and show them how Germany does it, lol :P
We're meeting up at 10pm in the fairwood McDonalds, this is by 167/405 - the URL for the meeting spot can be found here, there is no pre-planned route yet as we're working one since this is short notice, I'll update this post with more info as I talk to Nick.
THE MEETING SPOT IS LOCATED HERE:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&saddr=&daddr=47.445475,-122.151613&mra=mi&mrsp=0&sz=18&sll=47.445286,-122.151259&sspn=0.002638,0.005021&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=18&om=1
Post here if you're interested or if you have any questions - if you have radios, bring them, as we use them to communicate with each other on the freeway, we use channel 8 privacy code 0 - hope to see some of you guys out here tonight, it's a great chance to meet people with the same interests as you and get to go on one last fun drive before opening up presents in the morning!
n00bjabi 12-24-2007, 08:51 PM Bump! If you're bored tonight, consider this something you can do :P

I actually don't celebrate Christmas so it's all cool. Twice the money for a fraction of the work.
This meet would've been fun to attend though. There's NOBODY on the streets and it's not raining, not even that cold out either tonight.
n00bjabi 12-25-2007, 05:41 AM It was really fun tonight, Minh showed up in the red E46 and showed a lot of people what BMW is made of - fastest car out here was the STI with a GT52R running methanol injection haha, smelled like race gas as he was ahead of everyone flooring it through the I90 tunnel on the way out there.
Much thanks to everyone that showed up, was nice seeing all of you, and to those that didn't make it, I'll post future events such as this up here a few days in advance.
Merry Christmas everyone, I'm out for the night - my whole family has abandoned me for Christmas and me and my father don't get along, so I have no one here but... oh wait, the beautiful girl sitting right next to me. Just had to come on here and post a follow up to what happened - now if you'll excuse me gentlemen, I have a movie to watch :)

Minh reppin for the E46 M3 drivers! woulda made it but i needed to spend some quality time with the g/f ;)
SneakyMike 12-25-2007, 10:59 AM I would have joined, but was over on the peninsula til late last night, and had to get up early for work this morning :(
n00bjabi 12-25-2007, 11:12 AM Minh's race of the night was him against the LS1 F-Body that's been mostly unstoppable around here from any kind of roll - here's a quote from Evan on the BRMSport forums that described their race:
Got to race my first E46, and boy was it gay.
First was from a 45 roll, he got the jump *ITB and 6 speed with near perfect gearing* and pulled till i actually got about halfway into my rpms, then i pulled to about his rear bumper and we hit traffic.
Second was from a dig, he punched it, i feathered it and spun until about 40 by which time i couldnt see him anymore. lol the suspension is fucking amazing on those things, he just grabbed and took the fuck off without even a chirp.... its 35 fucking degrees out for christs sake.
third was same as the first.
i then made myself feel better by eating a Type R Integra and shitting him out
i cant fucking wait for summer http://brmsport.no-ip.org/brmotorsports/upload/img/smilies/mad.png
Evan's putting on new wheels/tires in a few days, hopefully most of his traction issues will be resolved - He's on 275/40R17's all around now, but he's getting 18x8 245's in the front and 18x9.5 285's in the rear - he's definetly going to want a rematch with Minh haha.
everycredit 12-25-2007, 05:47 PM Checked the board too late--oh well...

I wouldn't say his car is slow tho, I've driven it and that thing spins the tires up to 50mph in the dry, it's pretty ridiculous, walked all over both my S50 and modded S52 M3's, he's getting new wheels/tires and definitely wants to rerace, but for the time being he might have to find his next challenge with Pauline's E46 M3 SMG - it's stock just like yours so we'll see how that goes - but don't count his car as slow, with how badly he walked me.
Here's a vid of a stock Camaro vs an E46 M3 - Evan's was a Z28 but there's no difference in the engine, they're both LS1s, but it's good that you won.

Minhtri 12-26-2007, 12:51 AM i've never mentioned his car is slow!! but think about this "Z"
my e46 m3 is bone stock and im sure his wasn't..both of our cars was peeling out like crazy from the dig..u could see that from the launch that i did b4 i left home depot!!
he have advantages over me last night..such as i having seasonal tires..and two passengers and im pretty sure he didnt have seasonal tires or passengers..
from thw two rolls last night i beat him by at least six car lengths until we hit traffic..as from a dig, i couldnt even c him anywhere! plus doing a roll wouldnt lose that much traction at all.....i mean
everyone talk shiet about someone else car..i bet u do..but i do give him and that Ls1 respect after last night! i would do a rerace with him again..and this time ill b the only one in the car with racing tires and a couple of mods im about 2 do.
as for that m3 driver in that video..he is just garbage..man..making m3s look bad..gosh!!

If you pulled him by 8 cars then that really would have put my S52 to shame :( What was BMW thinking, not giving us the good motor lol :(
Everytime I raced the LS1 from a dig I'd win easily up to 70-80MPH, but at those higher speeds the LS1 seems to just pull like a monster, which is where the S54 probably triumphed over the S52 because of the ridiculous redline and whatnot.
Few weeks ago we also weighed our cars at a spot in west Seattle, his car is only 3550 with driver and he's a pretty big guy, while my E36 M3 came in at 3490 with driver :-/ My M3 was fat lol - probably why I lost in those higher speeds, but from any kind of dig, I had the same results as you did against him, just not enough top end to keep the distance once we launched.
mitchelrl 12-26-2007, 08:27 PM if an M3 put 6-8CL's on him your car has to be slow man. That's unheard of.

r u refering this 2 me?
n00bjabi 12-26-2007, 09:39 PM In a 0-80 I win against the LS1, but that was when it was dry out and he didn't have traction problems, he was spinning through 2nd gear when he raced Minh, the solid rear axles on those things don't do a good job of gripping when it's cold out.
n00bjabi 01-05-2008, 07:26 AM Ok I finally found the pictures and was extremely dissapointed - damn night shots suck without a tripod :( Lots of subaru, honda, nissan, and some american garbage.
No euro junk but hey, lots of cool fast cars showed up - great fun :D
We had a good turnout though, lots of people and one very fast little turbo miata.

For videos of the Miata - go here:
http://brmsport.no-ip.org/brmotorsports/upload/viewtopic.php?id=143
Click play on both youtube videos, I know they're not spectacular but to answer your questions - yes, he was spinning in 5th gear, and it was dry out. That little Miata is probably one of the fastest cars I've ever been in. I love it haha.
mitchelrl 01-05-2008, 02:50 PM He's pretty much negated everything that's cool about a Miata...IE it's handling with that asshappy power plant he's got under the hood.
n00bjabi 01-05-2008, 06:33 PM He's got another caged Miata for track, this is his drift car hence the body not being in the best shape.
